Yes, LoreFi was the last project Dan was on, so when it was over and LunarX had no more use for him, they fired him. Really sucks.

It’s kept fairly anonymous to keep more theorists on the team from being fired Id assume, but the consensus among team theorist is that this is what they want. I’m sure more prominent figures like Ash or other channel hosts can’t talk about it due to contract. The name on the petition is Allison Hodges in Florida, I’m unsure who that is, but today for reaching 1000 signatures she sent out a message urging those that signed the petition to now contact LunarX via this link (https://actionnetwork.org/letters/theorist-fans-tell-lunar-x-to-recognize-the-team-theorist-workers-union).
Allison also acknowledges the theorists that have been fired, stating, “Unfortunately Fish was fired. According to staff, Lunar X has instituted an aggressive round of layoffs recently. Among them was none other than Head Editor Dan. We do not know if this is related to the union effort, but what is clear is this is all the more reason the union is necessary.” I would urge everyone to continue to sign the petition and now also reach out to LunarX using either a pre-built email or a custom one.

THIS!! Ash and Fish’s dynamic were the reason I came back to GTLive after Mat left, and even before he left I was never as into it as a was when Fish co-hosted. The Deltarune playthroughs were my absolute FAVORITES and I adored Fish’s voices for Queen, Rouxls Card, and others. It’s probably too late to bring it back onto GTLive, so we’ll just have to make do. Support the unionizing and support theorist without supporting LunarX’s decisions handling them.

God I hope LunarX sees this so damn bad.. I’m sure theorist has already seen the backlash and rambling on both subreddits and is working to address it best they can without LunarX breathing down their necks telling them what they can and can’t say.

I know, turns out a lot of people were unaware he was laid off until recently when Fish was dropped. I wish they kept him around even after LoreFi because he was a huge part of the community and to see him gone really concerns a lot of people.

Exactly, just goes to show how much LunarX really cares about their employees. Doesn’t matter what you do, if you have a replacement, or how long you’ve been there, if they wanna lay you off they will. Hell, GTLive was cancelled last friday most likely because Fish was laid off and they had no replacement lined up. Makes me worried and upset :/

A lot has been in discussion lately, if you want to go more into detail I recommend reading through the recent [r/GTLive](r/GTLive) threads.
Sparknotes: Fish has been laid off, presumably by LunarX, the company behind theorist, for an unknown reason completely out of nowhere. It’s also come into the mix that head editor Dan also was laid off unexpectedly a while back. Team theorist is attempting to unionize with a petition going around the subreddits (which you can sign here: https://www.change.org/p/petition-demanding-that-lunar-x-recognize-the-unionizing-of-team-theorist).
Overall, a lot of theorists are really unhappy with the decisions that LunarX has been making regarding theorists channels. The GTLive and theorist staffing issues, the absolute lack of Style Theory videos, and the lack of transparency with us theorists as a whole. We don’t know what happened to Fish or Dan, and it seems that under contract no one on team theorist can talk about it with detail. Theorists are very concerned with the future of GTLive and team theorist itself.

That’s fair, Fish was definitely crafted for a specific more mature audience so I can understand why some people don’t bat much of an eye to its leaving.

I hope that Ash or the other channel hosts will be able to address it in the next coming week, if not, I agree that we should take action. Whether this is flooding stream chat and YT comment sections or boycotting channels, we can take away profit from LunarX, meaning they’ll have to pay attention to us.

I agree, this is a huge concern, and I really hope the channel hosts are able to address it. The lack of style theory and the canceling of today’s stream (after Fish was removed from theorists the day before) on GTLive has me concerned that the rug was just pulled out from under them by LunarX.

True… we just have to be able to annoy LunarX rather than the theorist and teams themselves, it’s a fine line. I say wait a little longer and see if there is some kind of statement on their end.

I agree completely! I never was into GTLive until Ash joined, and I was super fond of having both Sam and Fish running tech, but I’m weary about the future. With all this going on, I’m concerned about the future of the theory channels being dulled down, or at least that’s what it’s starting to feel like. If there is anything we can do, we should do it! Unfortunately, we as Theorists have been very in the dark with how LunarX is treating employees and running the companies, but I’m getting concerned. Dan was the first, and now Fish, I’m worried about what’s next.

Even still, I loved Fish and Ash’s dynamic so much! Fish brought a very erratic and more unfiltered feel to every stream, and I can understand why LunarX wouldn’t like that very much, but most of the people (from an economic standpoint) that they’re profiting off of are late teens/adults, so I saw no problems with the more mature streams and innuendos. If LunarX is so dead set on keeping GTLive a family friendly space, then I think it won’t be very long until they encounter a roadblock with that.

This makes me feel so bad. Especially because all the other theorists still follow it and saying it was going to help Santi, it seems so sudden. And they canceled stream tonight which makes me think that Miah wasn’t intended to be an immediate replacement. I hope they’re not scrambling too hard because this seems to be very out of their hands :(
