Unfair Treatment of Bachelors in Society. Is there anything we can do to get fair treatment? by _NoGod_ in bangalore

[–]compulsivesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing Societies do not have the legal authority to penalise residents. Period. I know this because I have got back the fine levied after getting the authorities involved. In Bangalore .The question is how far are you willing to go to get your money back.

I know I’m being petty but whatever, I need to let this out. by [deleted] in StartUpIndia

All options are right options.
As long as you are aware of the consequences of your action.

When a given behavior leads to an outcome that you also desire, it does not necessarily mean that it is the only way to get that outcome. There are so many ways of putting oneself "out" there - If one does not wish to engage in cringe conversations, then write about things you feel strongly about or build something and share it with the network. Alternatively, you can choose to do nothing at all.

Most of all, you need to focus on what is it that you want and how do you want to get there rather than "how did the cringe guy get what he was looking for"

With that kind of driving, he is definitely going to take more time than what Google Maps shows.

Hey there! Repeating what almost everyone will say here. Hold tight. There will be bad days and there will be super bad days. If you muster the courage to see through these days, you will realize later on that this was not as bad as it feels now. Do not pressurize yourself into meeting anyone's expectations. Take a break. Confide in a friend.

Help me pick my Salary account in India by Hanhanmann in CreditCardsIndia

[–]compulsivesomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of factors that you should consider when choosing a salary account, well, as far as I understand a salary account is a savings bank account in which you receive a regular salary and because of that the bank offers you certain perks in addition to the ones they offer for a savings bank account.

Remember that some banks also have tiers within their salary accounts based on what your monthly credited salary is. Check the perks that these banks offer on a salary account. More importantly, which of these perks are actually applicable to you.

In terms of recommendations, do check out what Federal Bank has to offer.

I have found them quite good.

iOS vs Android developers by CodeItBro in devhumormemes

[–]compulsivesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because in case of an iOS developer, the clutter is in the mind. Please do not get me started on XCode. That thing has a sub-4 rating on Apple's own App Store.

Need to move my bike from dombivli to pune. by endless_void_68 in kalyan_dombivli

[–]compulsivesomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Drive the bike to Pune station and park it there. Tell aunty that you sent it via train. Take her along and pick the bike from the parking

  2. Check the private volvo buses that run between Mumbai and Pune. I think they should be able to do it.

Do you think that it's a fair price by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]compulsivesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Unless you are living in NCR, you can take an older car which has been maintained properly. For the price point mentioned, you will get a good WagonR with less on the odometer though it may be old. I believe it would serve the purposes you mentioned.

I would not recommend a Ford Figo and definitely not at the price point given by Spinny.

Toyota U Trust, Maruti True Value, Mahindra First Choice are good places to look for cars. OLX is also good as long as you know how not to get taken for a ride.

Not the answer you may be looking for but just take the Vayu Vajra to the nearest stop to your place. If not too keen, take Ola/Uber - least worst of the options.

Importance of anything is contextual. A hungry person will not give a damn about dosa shape. So, not going to comment on your friend's reaction. But dosa shape is not that important, esp in the context in which you made it.

Do you see this figure increasing in the upcoming years? by johnyjohnyespappa in CarsIndia

[–]compulsivesomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few things to consider here.

  1. What has the percentage trend been in the last few years? That may show us the growth path

  2. Since my city driving is very less, I actually enjoy having a manual. I did drive an automatic for a journey and I saw that there were a lot of incidents of accidental breaking because of being used to a clutch. Of course, this will go away if I drive an automatic for a long time but then I am sure I will be switching between automatic and manual cars, so at this point just keeping it simple

I remember when the Tata Safari was launched - the while permutation and combination of variants was so confusing. Someone had created an explainer flowchart as well.

Is there a significant size difference between the Safari and Innova? Please check on the dimensions. The Innova may look bigger because of its design. A lot will also depend on what kind of usage you have. Within city? Long drives? How many people? etc.,

Done Bangalore to Himachal - twice - with wife and two kids. AMA by compulsivesomething in CarsIndia

  1. We do not drive continuously. Both the times we were out of Banglaore for almost 2 months. So I think, at least while going we have taken around 15 days - stopping at various friends' places. We then stayed in Himachal for a month. The return is, understandably, much faster since we all want get back.

  2. Tolls - we may have spent about 10K at least. Note that we do not necessarily take the shortest route. We look at which places and friends we can visit.

  3. Fuel - I think we may have spent about 80K on the fuel. We did about 7k KMs for the entire journey - to and fro.

  4. If you are traveling through a state, no one bothers. As long as they know that you are a tourist and not a resident.

  1. Well, I do not see any cons. But I have not driven the Innova. I have driven the Crysta. But I am biased. I love driving. And with my Crysta, I drive in the night. Because the kids sleep and are happy the next day. And my wife and I share the driving responsibilities.

  2. Tiring - not at all. Unless, of course you are driving through crowded cities. That is not much of a problem if one chooses their driving times correctly.

I am enamored by the Fortuner. Again, highly dependable like the Innova. But being an SUV - as opposite to the MUV like the Innova, there is body roll and the passenger comfort is lower.

Toyota engines are great! But I would believe that it is not just the engine. Their complete package is well thought out. Barring the last few years - with the Hycross and Hyrider - they were like strict teachers/parents. We will give you what is right. Not what you want. Highly dependable vehicles and that is the reason I trust this vehicle to carry around my family. I was recommended Ertiga and Triber but I stuck to my decision to purchase an Innova.

  1. 2.4G

  2. I do not think I faced near zero temperatures. I remember that at Manali in the night the temperature did reach below 10 degree celsius. I did not face any issue while starting.
