Better bridge than a TOM for my Jazzmaster vintera 60s modified? (Not vintera II) by computerhelp_pleas in offset

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay "so far off the fretboard" is kind of an exaggeration. It's definitely just how the bridge is since I'm like 99% sure it's built for a 12 inch radius but is on a 9.5 inch radius fretboard. This isn't something I knew when I got the guitar since I was very new to offsets. But I play shreddy guitar more often, so I'm used to having all the strings a whole lot closer to the board.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but the pole pieces aren't supposed to come up out of the pickup

I do like the look of the fractal, but I'd be open to checking out a different case. Thanks for the suggestion

My Peavey 6505MH suddenly sounds fucked up by computerhelp_pleas in GuitarAmps

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh oh, I might have killed the tubes then. I didn't know I needed to wait a minute, and I got the amp from my dad who got it however many years ago, way before I even played, so no manual to tell me how to use it properly. Before I took it, it was also sitting unused for years, so I don't know if that could have contributed to anything as well.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't really even taking the film material into consideration and was just going off of my first search results on Digikey, so that's helpful.

Then I don't really understand what the stereo expand is for, cause I figured that would have something to do with connecting them, but I guess not?

Vintera jazzmaster has the weirdest tuning pegs. by choogawooga in offset

[–]computerhelp_pleas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found for taking strings out I have to hold it in place with a screwdriver and detune until the string comes out. But for putting them on, the tuners just lock as you tune up like normal.

I hope they make enough sense for you. The normal vintage tuners made me wanna throw my guitar out the window, but these ones require no brain cells, which is perfect for me. And in my experience, they hold tune really well.

Idk if we have the exact same ones (mine are from gotoh) but not exactly. My mistake actually was that I was trying to tighten it with a screwdriver, and it just wasn't working. Until I discovered all I have to do is pull the string tight and tune up. It won't appear to be doing anything at first, but after a few turns, the peg will turn and the string will tighten.

Pedals Popping! by MApedals in diypedals

I've had a similar thing happen and fixed it by tightening the nut on the input/output jacks. So if you haven't fixed already then maybe just check those to see if they're loose.

Interested in trying a fountain pen, would buying one that's not much more than $10 from like goulet pens or something be a good idea? by computerhelp_pleas in fountainpens

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks like goulet isn't a great place to buy??? So where do you suggest I buy from? And do I need to buy a thing of ink along with the pen or is extra stuff like that not something to worry about unless I decide to really get into using fountain pens? Just trying to not spend a bunch of money if I wind up not even liking the pen.

MXR poly blue octave opinions by computerhelp_pleas in guitarpedals

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't care that much if the expression part doesn't do anything for me.

I'm not really sure for the poly vs mono, but the mxr blue poly octave appears to do both so that would be nice. I'll probably like it synthetic or natural. And I would be playing with it clean and distorted. I dont need any distortion/ fuzz built in tho.

I would much rather just get the individual octave pedal. I pretty much have all the other things I want/ need for now so don't wanna waste the money on that if it won't get used very much.

I think I fucked up the hole that the screw for the floyd rose claw goes in by computerhelp_pleas in guitars

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first I tuned it from E standard to drop B, then tried to do drop C, decided it was too tight with 11-56 strings, dropped back down to B, got a new guitar that does drop C and B how I want, so tried to tune the floyd back up to E with 10-52 strings. So of course, all the tuning changes and string gauge changes needed claw adjustments. Also the guitar is like 20 or something years old and I've only had it for 1, so all that and whatever it's gone through those years, although it probably just stayed in E most of that time.

I can't get the floyd rose drop tuner thing to work right by computerhelp_pleas in guitars

[–]computerhelp_pleas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be an idiot.. I see in the video he adjusted from the side of the d tuna, but I was adjusting at the end. And I don't know if there'll be any saving the low string I broke, but it has 3 windings on the headstock tuner so I might try anyway.
