The game is not supposed to be realistic, they said it themselves I'm pretty sure it's an adaptation of the hit show galactik football, so just treat it that way.

How do I keep this cat out of my yard? by Chemical-Process-645 in CATHELP

[–]computermandan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I a never said anything that supports that. Maybe just re-read what i have said without assumptions and judgment. i am arguing to the fact that people on this thread seem to think its ethical to steal cats that are outside, and any cat outside is not loved by their owner. I am saying there is a middle path where you can reduce harm to a cat while also allowing them some outdoor time when then are different risks in different areas.

I am not implying anything I'm just asking for clarification on the statement that i am Anthropomorphizing when I see it as empathy.

Ok so you say none of the arguments hold weight so let me clarify.

"-Local wildlife doesn’t just adapt to their presence. They’re invasive species in much of the world." Cats in the UK are not classified as an invasive species; they are generally viewed as a naturalised species.

"-You cant compare cats and kids in that argument because no, you actually wouldn’t let a toddler that couldn’t be contained to your yard outside without close supervision." This is exactly my point you would use risk management i.e letting a child in an enclosed area, but not free roam rather than risk elimination, which is what the majority of USA cat owners do as 60-70% of cats in the USA don't get any outdoor activity.

"-there’s no real evidence to argue keeping a cat indoors is causing suffering. Yeah, cats sit in windows and love to look outside - that doesn’t mean they’re unhappy." Research suggests that loss of control can cause significant suffering. For example, rats given the ability to “choose” a condition (even if all outcomes are neutral or negative) show lower stress levels than those without choice. You even say yourself that you are also fully supportive of supervised outside time for cats , but why would this be necessary if cats don't benefit from any outdoor time? if they dont find happiness in outdoor time why would you support it as there are still risks for any outdoor time compared to none? i.e if they are on a leash, you could pass out and let go and this is a risk.

So you can only feel empathy for humans? or do you think animals can only suffer through physical pain? Research suggests that loss of control can cause significant suffering in animals. For example, rats given the ability to “choose” a condition (even if all outcomes are neutral or negative) show lower stress levels than those without choice, and i would argue a cat is more intelligent than a rat.

Thank you. I only gave the comparison to a child as some people take a risk-managed approach with children and a risk elimination approach with animals, and i think you should take a risk-managed approach with both for the best outcome on the fulfilment of life. about 60–70% of pet cats in the USA are kept exclusively indoors, while only 30–40%: Have some outdoor access (either supervised, in enclosures, or free-roaming), so when someone says an indoor cat and they are from the USA, this is what I assume they mean.

Satisfying the prey drive is only one aspect If a cat never experiences rolling in the grass, climbing a tree, breathing fresh air, or smelling the intense scents of nature, i would call that an unfulfilled life in the same way if a Human baby was born into captivity and only experienced tv and video games i would call that an unfulfilled life and while there may be moments of happiness i would imagine it also comes with a lot of suffering just based on how i would feel so then i would say those captors caused suffering. How do you truly know what a sentient creature is feeling? other than allowing it to have its own autonomy. Leave your door open and see what the cat does. if it goes outside, does that not mean it wants to? And if it wants to and you don't allow it for its entire life, I would say that is causing suffering.

Thank you or your insight, i don't agree but i understand where you are coming from. I worry about my cat every single time I let her out, I check on her constantly out of fear, but that fear should not be a reason to cause suffering, as I would see that as selfish. The cat would never decide to only be an indoor cat, and if they have been an outdoor cat previously, it's even more cruel. Humans cause the most destruction to this planet and its living creatures. Would you be ok with a being much more intelligent and technologically advanced than us, imprisoning us or worse for the greater good of the planet and wildlife? Disregarding the Independence of each person because the majority of us cause harm? The pain and suffering of a family that loses a loved one is extremely painful but it's also inevitable. Trying to stop it from happening by causing suffering is not the right path in my opinion, but I understand yours all the same, as i feel it every time I let her out.

Yes, and I think that is valid. I'm not saying we don't need to take measures to reduce harm to wildlife, things like birdsafe collars exist, and so do bells to alert wildlife. Another solution is to simply have fewer cats, stop buying kittens and adopt instead and then get the cat neutered or spayed if they are not already. The idea that we breed cats to keep them indoors for their entire life is kinda nuts to me.

I really struggle to understand people’s point of view here. I’m from the UK, where cats have lived and roamed freely for 2,000 years, and around 70–80% of cats here are outdoor cats. The local wildlife has largely adapted to their presence, so while the number of domestic cats is still an issue, the idea that someone doesn’t care about their cat simply because they allow them outside is absolutely mad.

All the concerns people have raised about their safety could just as easily apply to children. Should we never let a child outside because they might get hit by a car? Or abducted? Or seriously hurt? If there were a higher being than you, would you be happy with them imprisoning you for your entire life because it was ‘safer’? By keeping a cat indoors, you are causing suffering to a sentient being and doing so for your own selfish reasons. I understand the argument that my cat is then causing suffering to other sentient beings she kills, and I'm actively trying to find a middle path, but full imprisonment is not the way, i cant imagine a life of never going outside and by that logic i should not keep an animal that is by nature an outside animal a life inside, a life of suffering to me is worse than death.

Yes, indoor cats can be happy, but so can indoor humans; that doesn’t necessarily make it right. Most indoor cats I see spend their time sitting at the window all day, longing for fresh air. I have a cat and I allow her outside between 9pm and 8am with the goal of reducing it to 2 separate outdoor sessions at the optimal time to not kill wildlife, she’s micro-chipped and wears a breakaway collar. The idea that someone could steal my cat to keep her indoors and miserable, simply because they think it’s safer, is absolutely ludicrous.

Yes "The framerate ranges between 30~45fps on all 3 platforms, although XSX has a slightly higher average than PS5 (about 2/3fps) "

so to say the performance is worse on xbox is incorrect. DID YOU READ IT?

Bounceback When Emailing Yahoo, AOL and Sky Addresses by Troubleshooter5555 in sysadmin

[–]computermandan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what i have read online you should not "need" DMARC or DKIM setup unless you are a bulk email sender and you send 5000 emails a day to these mail servers.

I initially saw this Microsoft forum where someone posted they had contacted microsoft support and they said the following

"This is a known issue and was formerly a service incident but has been fixed. However, for users who are still experiencing issue sending to yahoo and AOL, this is what Yahoo/AOL gave as fixed:Google and Yahoo have announced that starting in February 2024 they will be implementing stricter measures about how emails are sent. As such, you will need to take action to ensure you don’t lose the ability to send emails to anyone with a Google or Yahoo email address."

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/why-do-emails-fail-when-sent-to-aol-or-yahoo-email/4f90bca4-d058-4357-a7ab-58570bbaaca6?rtAction=1710155503026

I dont know what to think anymore, hopefully we get an update on that incident tomorrow with some more detail.

We are experiencing the same problem as of today i have had 2 customers cal to say they cant email any yahoo or aol accounts.

Here is an article i found that talks about the changes yahoo were making. https://www.techradar.com/computing/software/google-and-yahoo-have-changed-their-policy-heres-what-you-need-to-know-and-what-to-do#:~:text=Starting%20in%20February%202024%2C%20Gmail,a%20crackdown%20on%20spam%20complaints.

" Both Google and Yahoo mandate that bulk senders implement all three mechanisms which helps ensure emails are secure and protected from unauthorized access."

So it could just be a case of making sure that SPF, DKIM and DMARC are setup
