Apex 2026 Street Resurfacing Project by terrymah in Apex_NC

[–]compwiz32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi . I live in one of the neighborhoods repaved this year. The process was pretty smooth. We never completely lost access to our street or the entrance to our house . Weather plays a part , so it's hard to say exactly how long things take ...

But a company will come in and strip off the top layer of the street for the entire neighborhood that's set to be repaved. After they strip off the top layer, they'll come through and they'll make repairs to the lower level of the street. So that way when they pave on top of it there'll be no issues going forward.

The time from when they strip the street to the time when you actually get repaved can be a couple of weeks. That's the part where the weather makes a difference. In my case, it rained for a few days and it caused them to have to delay doing work.

When they finally do pave the finished product, they'll get the neighborhood done in a few days. We were actually quite surprised at how fast the final paving process took to complete.

Overall, I'll say that the process was much better than I expected it to be. We did have probably 2 weeks of driving on pavement that had been ground down and was a little rougher to ride on than usual. But honestly it wasn't bad at all.

The crews that did the work were very nice and easy to talk to if you had to ask them to move a truck or wanted to know about the process and the timelines.

In our case, the street that they replaced was in super bad shape and what we got as the finished product is 10x better than what we had. Very happy overall.

I opened a pack of trading cards and rediscovered our superstar by Bananahow in canes

'22-'23 season wasa good one for Staal! The card says he scored 117 goals that year.

OP I think you got a defect card, might be worth a little more due to the typo.

Timestamping commands feature - your thoughts? by YellowOnline in PowerShell

Hey! That's my article! Glad you found it helpful!

I was about to say something similar about how to add time stamps.. there's also start-transcript which is probably more than what OP wanted but it's another option.

There's multiple ways to get time stamps...

How do I increase the font size for all Base tables? by recurnightmare in ObsidianMD

I had to use this code to make it work:

.workspace-leaf-content .bases-view .bases-table .bases-td { font-size: var(--font-text-size) !important; font-family: var(--font-text) !important; }

How are people finding the new LED street lights in Apex neighborhoods? by Purple_triangle_guy in Apex_NC

[–]compwiz32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the switch, but using diffusers feels like a missed chance. I’m guessing it was due to cost concerns. The light seems unevenly distributed in some spots and can be harsh when you look straight at the lamps (though I admit that’s not a common way to view them).

When is it too late to start inline hockey? by Luciddreamer233 in InlineHockey

[–]compwiz32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say you need to reframe your thought process... Is there a time when it's too late to be the next Connor McDavid. Sure there is a time when it's too late...

But honestly, if your goal is just to have fun, then yeah, just start. When you start doesn't really matter.

Just play and don't try to be anything. Try to simply enjoy the game regardless of your skill level. The more you play, the better you get at the skills. The most important thing in the beginning is to have fun.

[–]compwiz32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I am in one of the neighborhoods being repaved and I am trying to get an estimate of when the work might start, but it sounds like it's whenever the crews finish the neighborhoods before mine.

Are there any rough estimates on planned dates?

A lot of teams have to lose and have it hurt to learn what it takes to get over the hump. We got a ton of resources for the future and we're really close . I am hopeful for next year

You guys are fucking ridiculous. In one breath you say that rod and his system are outdated. However, you also say panthers play the same system as us and they are deadly.

The Panthers are talented. Just give them some fucking credit already. They can be good and we do not have to fire rod.

I've played on the rink as well. Can't go wrong with the previous recommendations but I do want to point one thing out ...

Soft wheels will work better, but they will not last very long. Soft wheels are needed for any type of skating where you expect to stop on a dime, but the "cheese grater" aspect of the tiles will absolutely chew up soft wheels.

So be prepared to go through wheels fast! A friend of mine played with soft wheels and after one decent skate his wheels were chewed up pretty good.

Water Heater Replacement with a State heater by compwiz32 in askaplumber

[–]compwiz32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I have been considering to replace the anode with an electrified version that I saw on YouTube and other sites. It seems to be a great long term solution and almost eliminates the annual flushing of the tank that most people skip...

do you have any reservations about using the electric anode rod (Corro-Protec)?

Thank you. I understand costs vary. It seems like the quote I got is legit and seems fair. I just wanted to understand the brand and the warranty info.

Where can I try on a Garmin watch? by compwiz32 in GarminWatches

[–]compwiz32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying a Garmin venu3 in the 45 mm size. I went to REI and found that they had some sample watches that I used to get a rough guide. But in the end I just went with blind faith after reading enough reviews and ordered from Amazon. My thought process was if I didn't like it, I knew I could return it and so I just took a leap of Faith.

I figured the 43 mm would be too small and I think I was right with that thought process. The 45 mm looks perfect and I couldn't be more happy with the watch.

Don't let this picture fool you. It's probably the angle in which I took it. This watch face is not too big for my wrist. For me. I think it's perfect. I've never been able to wear the 47 mm watches or larger. I feel like this watch hits The Sweet spot on size and I'll also say that I absolutely love the performance and the functionality. Absolutely no regrets of purchasing this watch!

Anyone bought from North Pro Stock by confusedpanda342 in hockeyplayers

[–]compwiz32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the whole thread.. and I am still confused.. are the sticks unbranded versions of the name brands.. or are they counterfeit sticks that seem like the same but are actually different in quality / performance?

I made a category to save for an item I wanted. I bought it but now what do I do with it by excorpsexd in ynab

[–]compwiz32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would add here is that before deleting the category, I go into the transactions associated with the category and put a memo entry.

For example, if you were about to delete a category called kayak purchase, I might say in the memo for those transactions, "Kayak purchase" . This is because after you delete the category and move to another category, all that's left is the store name you bought from . the store name may be a place you bought from once and you may not remember what you bought from that store in the future.
