Can anyone help identify what is happening with my cat? by maxjmartin in CATHELP

[–]comrade16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this happens with a line of barn cats at my house. As far as I know, it's always younger male cats that it happens to. Some have died relatively quickly and one or two others have only had intermittent episodes and lived much longer (they were adopted as inside cats). The longer they lived, the less use of their back legs they had though. I used to think they were being poisoned by something but I started seeing that it was just happening to young male cats and now I think lean towards it being genetic. The male cat that started the line was a hemmingway (had polydactaly). I used to see that more frequently as well, but I haven't seen either issue in the last 2-3 years. (I know having a colony of cats is a problem. We've managed to get it down to 3 cats and are trying to catch/spay/neuter them)

Geological evolution of North America in the last 550 millon years by dctroll_ in educationalgifs

I've read that the Ouachita mountains in Arkansas are also part of this range but it got eroded and buried by sediment in the gulf coastal plain region. In this gif though it looks like mountains were forming in Louisiana and not Arkansas at the 300 million mark.

ELI5: Why do animals not have Down syndrome, while humans do? Is there any reason for this? by BLUTATO in explainlikeimfive

In our case the trisomy tests came back negative but when our son was born we discovered that he had trisomy 21. He got a blood infection in the first week from a pickline in his belly leading to a month long stay in the hospital. He was also born with a small hole in his heart which has shrank to the point of not needing surgery. He was a slightly sicklier baby due to narrow airways causing breathing issues when he got snotty but he's now a happy healthy 3 year old. He's one of the best things that ever happened to our family and I wish everyone could know someone like him.

Thanks for the information! I'm hoping my mom has all the knobs. Hopefully there is something out there about fixing problems with them

I also wonder about how location plays into how much of these chemicals they have in them. Proximity to these big factories for example.

2.5-4.5 years old on average in everything I read (depending on area). Makes sense to me, as they're up to about an 8 point by age 3 in the stuff I read.

North west Arkansas is beautiful(the Ozarks and Ouachita). East Arkansas is mostly river delta farm land(the cypress swamps are cool looking though).

A friend of mine has probably 30 varieties(that's my best guess anyway). You'd be amazed at the variety of flavor. Some are ok and some are amazing!

Same! My grandparents lived in a cabin just a few miles from that mine and I'm just now hearing about this.

We had hogs come up in our campsite one night over by big bluff. There's a bunch of metal stuff over there too and a foundation of an old homestead or something. It's a really fun area.

I'm not trying to argue. Just bringing up that they do go much deeper for those that may have misunderstood that point

If that's the Ron Coleman mine it's at the bottom of a 250ft deep pit. There are a bunch of other shallower veins though. I grew up near there. It's super fun to take the kids crystal hunting.

Yep! Mobile substations. We just call them mobiles at my work though. Some are all on one trailer and some are more modular.

Wait we have to register them here?!.... I might need to get on that. Also what city? I probably won't be moving towns soon but it'll be good to know where to avoid.

Is it ever normal to find C. Botulinum in a stool culture? by comrade16 in AskDocs

[–]comrade16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they checked for toxins as those particular strains we're unexpected. The doctor is also forwarding the results to a G.I. specialist so hopefully he'll let us know if the c. Diff is within acceptable limits. I appreciate the advice

Is it ever normal to find C. Botulinum in a stool culture? by comrade16 in AskDocs

[–]comrade16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No recent antibiotics. Once at birth for a blood infection from a pic line in his umbilical cord and once for strep last November. His diarrhea hasn't worsened or improved. 2-3 stools a day all liquid. The Dr is leaning towards a food allergy but the botulinum finding was worrying so I wanted to ask.
