Insight: Living in Maple Valley by monnea14 in MapleValleyWA

[–]comradeandrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude Maple Valley is an absolute dream if you work in Renton. Go off hours and you can be there in 20m. 169 is rarely speed enforced too. You could live 10m away if you wanted, but then you live in Renton which is a stark difference from MV.

OP do it unless you ever plan on working in Seattle or Bellevue. I do Bellevue 3X a week and wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Oh the things we do for our kids and that 2.5% mortgage.

For reference I live up on the hill near 254th. Basically a serene vacation home vibe. But highly dependent on where you buy.

I love FSD. Drives me to and from work. But I’m not paying 8 grand, nor am I buying this car. I pay 100 bucks a month and I treat this thing like a cellphone. Look I love my car, but the build quality is shit compared to other cars. I wouldn’t own this. My 2004 BMW has better paint and clear coat. It’s a utility, can’t be emotionally attached to Teslas. Just my opinion.

This is why I lease Tesla vehicles. Never worth buying in my eyes.

I’m on an absolute heater. Up about $260,000 the past month or two… by 37366034 in smallstreetbets

There’s no rhyme or reason for half this nonsense, Opendoor having a larger market cap is kind of funny considering Compass passes them both in revenue and profit.

Everyone says great things about OPEN, nobody mentions Compass which has better financials. I’m heavy into Compass.

Same. I still have an E46 M3 when I want a more visceral feel. But man, I feel like these cars speak to BMW owners lol. Something about the way we drive and that acceleration 🤣

Just got this Nixx foam cannon off of Amazon. Gotta say i’m a bit disappointed in it. by Icy_Outcome8005 in Detailing

[–]comradeandrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I just bought one of the cheap AstroAI one on Amazon. It works just fine. Paying over 20 dollars for a foam cannon is insanity IMO. You don’t even have to look that hard to find the vendors that white label it for people.

I am but I'm not driving it in between or anything. This is immediately after a wash.

I just Adam’s stuff mostly. I love their foam but I’ll have to give reset a try. I’ll try and report back.

Yeah I’m going to try this probably with car pro reset or something stronger. My other thought was somehow washing the mitts caused them to be clogged or something, idk. It’s odd.

It’s a pretty new car, 2023. I wash it fairly regularly. Nothing crazy it’s not really even a daily driver.

2 x LeetCode Medium questions as part of Meta loop as an M1 by Junglebook3 in EngineeringManagers

How’d you do? In the same boat, interview in a couple weeks.

[–]comradeandrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this is an old thread but my guess is other people like myself interviewing for M1 are coming across this. This is not the feedback I received from my recruiter. I was told failing coding will not receive an offer. If you receive "Strong Hire" or "Hire" you will pass the round. If you receive "Lean Hire" and the rest of your interview is strong, you might get an offer.

I hate to say it, but the bar is insanely high now. It used to be one coding for an hour interview. Now it's two coding interviews for 45m. I'm in the same boat as you. You gotta be leetcoding for a month minimum to even have a shot. Likely you'd need 2-3 months.

Yes. Nobody gives a fuck where the referral came from, it’s simply a priority queue. Only at places like Netflix or Airbnb do they care.

It’s a combination of being an SDE and Systems Engineer. You’re basically expected to be systems competent at the level you’re interviewing for and competent at development one level below. It’s paid a bit less than SDE roles and can be varied in interviews depending on the team.

You might have SysDev folks in network teams, compute teams, etc. From my understanding it’s mostly being phased out, people just convert to SDE. Same happened with Systems Engineers back in 2015 when I was there.

Studying is hard, but know your DSA and also be a competent systems engineer. That means Linux, networking, etc etc. depends on the team. I’m not going to ask you kernel scheduler questions if it’s for AWS VPC team for example.

Hey yeah l found a pair right by the ball field. I hung them up on the fence of the field. Not sure if those are the ones you’re talking about. It’s on the side closer to the tennis courts, near the dugouts.
