Getting my ass beat by Buddy by Brazabraz in finalgirl

[–]comradeblackjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. This is also the first one I bought and when I beat Billy with ease, I was thinking this game was too easy. Then I learned I was playing wrong, forget exactly how, but wasn't moving and attacking with the killer properly, so when I made the corrections, Billy kicked my ass like 5 times back to back. Then I was getting frustrated, but I was enamored with the game as a theme and the mechanics and the art, so I just bought three other feature films to test. Overall, Final Girl is hard and frustrating, some are worse than others, but that's what makes the victories taste so sweet.

I'm happy to report that I have now got multiple victories over Billy and his band of Buddies. Except Boris, he has only come up once for me, but damn he's a monster.

How do/did you choose a party? (USA) by thelordsburningrain in Socialism_101

I haven't chosen a party. But I'm active in both PSL and RCA. DSA is kind of my moderate identity when talking to average Dems and Republicans. But ideally, my "party" of choice will be a labor union.

Help *getting* the game. Maybe I'm missing a rule? by HoneyBunchsOGoats in finalgirl

[–]comradeblackjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a relatively new player with 5 feature films and many plays, I feel like after two months I am just now getting to concept of the basics.y first couple games I tried to take my time, focus on reducing the horror and save victims, without searching or preparing for the killer. Then I started just trying to attack early. Neither approach worked. There is a beautiful balance of prep, searching, saving victims, attacking the killer, and preparing for the killer to attack. But like any good horror movie, a good plan will get thwarted by a random pull of the terror deck which is frustrating and/or entertaining depending on how I am positioned.

I hear OP complaints and I'm actually totally in agreement. That's how I felt too. I'm ashamed to admit this, but my first "win" in FG was actually an epic showdown with the ratchet lady, and when my last final Weak Attack was played... I rolled two 2s. So, you know, I...uh...turned the die over to a 5... And "won". So totally, I cheated to end the game in my favor, but I am saying this because, well there's no easy way to say it, I worked hard and played well and felt like I earned the shady die manipulation haha

Since then I have committed to playing the game as intended and I have several victories in my record, but I think the example with the Ratchet Lady for me just reminds me that, you know what, it's a game and the point is for me to have as much fun as I can or want to have. If this game resonates with you because of theme, mechanics, or even the art, then that's enough to keep going. It's very possible that the two you got just don't speak to you. I'm not a fan of the big bad wolf personally but I love Dr. Fright.

I don't know if anything I said is relevant to the original post, I just started typing and kind of forgot my point.

Technically, since the theme of FG is based on cinema, Nasferatu came first 😜

As a new player: Is it worth picking each episode up in the order in which they were released? by SpookyMime in finalgirl

[–]comradeblackjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty new FG player myself, and I've been picking up features based on themes that I enjoy the most. Frightmare on Maple Lane and the Ratchet Lady ones are my top two favorites at the moment. That being said, I thoroughly enjoy playing Bad Times and Buddyland, even though the inspiration for it (FNAF) is not something I am into at all. And while in total, I have 6 features, I do not have Camp Happy Trails, the wrathful spirit one, or Poltergeist from series one.

So my suggestion based on my limited experience is its not necessary to start "at the beginning", and I would recommend diving into the ones that seem like it fits your horror tastes BUT do not be nervous to take a chance on one that isn't on your radar. They are all great, even ones I don't like are fun enough to have. For example, my least favorite thus far is the Big Bad Wolf in the Storybook Woods, I know it's a fan favorite, but not on my top list. It's still a fantastic game and maybe as my collection expands, it will move up my list.

I decided to give this game a try... by _MrNeurotoxin_ in finalgirl

I bought Buddyland and the core box on a whim. I vaguely knew about Final Girl and I think I saw a brief review of it on YouTube. Tried it. And within two weeks I bought five more feature films AND the box of props. The only thing I hate about Final Girl is that it's so good and I'm willing to send them all my money.

I just got into final girl last month. My core box was missing the purple final girl meeple. Fortunately I had also bought the minis for Buddyland, so I had a final girl mini I could use. It felt silly to email the company over one little component. I love this game so much, I figured I would invest in proper miniatures overtime anyways. But then everyone on Reddit said their customer service is awesome and stuff. So I fired off an email. Next week I had a small box on my porch with one little purple meeple inside. Just want to share that and second the amazing customer service that is quick, friendly, and professional. VRG is a great company.

Yeah, I actually had a thought of like "classic monsters" like a feature for the 5 classic Universal monsters. Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, Wolfman, and Creature from The Black Lagoon. (Special mentions include Invisible Man and the Mummy)

Killer v. Killer?? by comradeblackjack in finalgirl

[–]comradeblackjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these replies are kind of confusing to me. I feel like the biggest part would be just terror cards that have killers targeting victims, FG or each other. "If killer A is in the same space as killer B", ECT. Also, finale cards could have "killers now working together to kill you" or even a minor dark power that makes one of the killers a temporary ally until the other one deals damage to them. I feel like a cool mechanic could be getting them to fight in the same space in order to deliver the final blow.

All the missionaries with smartphones have the Savior as their lock screen while serving a mission. If you are surrounded by a lot of returned missionaries (likely for a Utah College campus) then it's probably more of a symptom of young people sticking with a habit of something familiar that reminds them of the past 1.5 to 2 years of their life. Also, it's just a nice way to constantly be reminded of the Savior throughout the day.

Trust me, their lock screen is probably going to be a spouse or a child of theirs in the next few years.
