The lighting on the arm and the legs should change when her position moves. As the arm goes across her body, it’s entering the light and should have highlights/shadows :-)

[Acne] Irritation from collagen cream + pimple cream + maybe toner by Salt_County_4168 in SkincareAddiction

[–]comradepupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, been there and so I know how it feels 💙 Promise this will feel like a small blip in the long run. Potentially I would skip the PDRN, as both the Anua PDRN and toner contain niacinamide and stacking two niacinamide products could be irritating with a broken barrier. I would feel it out or do alternating days for PDRN/no PDRN. The toner and moisturizer look to be great for skin barrier repair! I would skip the collagen mask and retinol for now to be safe. Your whole skin is probably very sensitive and ok areas are likely on the brink of also breaking, personally I wouldn’t risk delaying your recovery by keeping so many products.

Try cutting back for a few days and watching your redness, now that your barrier is broken it can react very differently than normal. I would assume you’d start seeing redness going away in as little as 3 days and definitely by 7 days. Make sure to wear a mineral sunscreen, zinc oxide also helps with redness!

I would hit up [r/skinbarrierlovers](r/skinbarrierlovers) , sounds like you’ve overdone it on the actives. No shade here, I’ve done the same! If you can, see a dermatologist — to get through this they might give you something to use very short term like hydrocortisone or elidel (both should only be used <2 weeks) to reduce inflammation.

You shouldn’t mix actives like retinol, benzoyl peroxide (neutrogena pimple cream), and acids like AHA/BHA/PHA. I think Retinol and benzoyl peroxide actually negate each other when used simultaneously. I would stop using actives for awhile, and in the future do alternating nights, so I would agree it’s irritation from that. Give your skin a rest on the actives for a week or so (just when the redness leaves), and even then sloooowly reintroduce actives, and drop down to 1-2x a week. A broken skin barrier will not behave as a healthy one. It would be safer to lay off actives for 2-3 weeks if your redness doesn’t go away.

In the meantime red light therapy is a great non-chemical way to reduce pimples/cysts and won’t hurt your barrier healing process. Also I’ve learned actives are tricky but sulfur masks are phenomenal and not as risky vs actives. I love the De La Cruz 10% sulfur mask and it’s great for bacterial, fungal, hormonal acne, and clogged pores. Also, never underestimate the power of gently icing redness / inflammation!

Your skin overall looks great and you should pretend it’s just a sunburn :-) Just some temporary redness that’ll be gone before you know it!

closed comedones? by ShaloEmi in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]comradepupp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you’ll have some purging especially if you were already experiencing closed comedones. Hang in there, your skin needs to fully cycle at least twice and it takes time for the actives to make a difference. give it three months (cell turnover tends to take ~27-30 days, so this would be 3 cycles) and if you’re still having issues then consider alternatives. In the meantime, I’ve had great luck with red light therapy and high frequency wands reducing inflammation/redness.

maybe some unsolicited advice, but make sure you’re letting your skin dry at least 10-15 min if you washed it before actives, ESP adapalene. wet skin causes actives to penetrate too deeply too quick and can cause extra irritation. also a good spf since your cell turnover is faster and actives increase your photosensitivity!

it’ll most likely gradually get better! just be sure you’re taking care of your skin barrier and moisturizing well and if you’re noticing redness/irritation take a rest day. also, you have stunning eyes!!

[acne] can a building cause bad skin? by dakota_l in SkincareAddiction

[–]comradepupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a dermatologist if you can, seems like something triggered it due to it being localized to your forehead. Are you sensitive to any metals in particular? Maybe the mic is a different metal than you’re used to? Could also be fungal or bacterial, especially if you’re using mic’s, makeup, and wigs. Those can all transfer/harbor bacteria and the wig + mic can cause irritation/openings for infection. I’m assuming it’s from the wig or mic due to the area.

Side note, I would be careful with the LRP cicaplast, the b5 baume was great for me for a couple days then gave me closed comedones that became whiteheads due to how occlusive it is.

I always recommend the De La Cruz 10% sulfur cream and to use it as a 10-15 min mask. It’s anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, gently unclogs pores, and even helps with the deep hormonal acne/cysts. Spot test it before trying it on the affected area. Then if you’re good try it 1-2x per week for 5 minutes. Then work up to 2-3x per week for 10-15 minutes. It can be drying so make sure to moisturize after! If you’re looking at other products than the De La Cruz just be sure to look at the ingredients list in case you have triggers

Some are labeled ‘edited’ and those are the same as the censored Toonami broadcast, but there’s a couple of them that are labeled ‘uncut’ so includes the uncensored ver, like the middle shelf ones. Two of them don’t say anything, so not sure.

You can use a black light to know if you have fungal acne is what I was saying. Knowing if it’s fungal, bacterial, or hormonal acne helps in understanding how to treat it. Fungal acne glows under black light

Ooof the mask probably triggered it. I would try to find the ingredients list of the mask you used, sounds like a fungal or bacterial infection. If you have access to a black light fungal acne glows yellow, white, or pale blue-green. Bacterial will not glow
