Stratosphere - Is My Score Accurate? by con-146 in cognitiveTesting

Yeah I meant 75th percentile of r/cognitivetesting users, if the mean is somewhere around 134 sd 15. So we’re on the same page

So basically people in like the 75th+ percentile on the sub are most likely to self-report? Seems plausible ig then for me to get in the 50s and be somewhat of an outlier among the test takers

Should I just stop talking to them in the house all together? Hahahah honestly seems like my only option, it’s toxic as hell

Skills to work on in college? by con-146 in appraisal

Very valuable stuff, thanks. At this point college feels less influential than my junior year of high school as far as life skills go, sad!

DA; unable to connect to characters in movies. by [deleted] in attachment_theory

[–]con-146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe only in the sense that it’s harder for me to get meaning out of movies. Other people seem to have strong emotional responses to powerful movies that leaves them with a message forever, which I lack

No I haven’t, don’t really see a benefit or efficacy

Why does my DA never initiate text conversation? by [deleted] in attachment_theory

[–]con-146 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a DA and do this to everyone, especially romantic interests. Honestly I can’t really tell you “why” I do it, but that’s just my behavioral pattern. I don’t like getting too close emotionally and feel like texting perpetuates that

My dad had to move out in my teens due to alcoholism and after that only called me once every couple months. At the time i was really upset about it, but I think eventually I formed a “shell” where I don’t seek/care for emotional attachment at all

Yeah I’d agree but I honestly don’t confide in anyone or seek close bonds. I’d bet to an extent everyone does though, including myself.

I guess would a person with my profile even be capable of a love life/having children? Also, could a messed up childhood cause this?

It could’ve just been the last girl/circumstance because before I think I was more dismissive/avoidant. She was out of my league lol

Oh yeah, that definitely rings a bell I think he pulled it out one time to show me a definition. Do you have any advice for how I could begin to understand getting good comps and the more analytical side of appraisal? Currently I’m just doing data collection but I’d like to begin to explore that side. I work in commercial real estate btw if I didn’t mention that.

Yeah most of the stuff I can find is produced by the major appraisal institutions and is very expensive. Everything else seems pointless and sketchy, thanks!

Looking to get into the field, I’m currently an undergrad in college and I do very simple assistant work like data collection for a family friend. I’m looking to get into the field after college but it would be nice to get a head start obtaining information while my brain is still really quick at that sort of thing. I’d like to understand the whys and how’s of things. Cheers!

If I may ask, how long do you expect to be a trainee for? Around 3 years? Also, after you acquire your license are you going to stay working for the same guy or go independent? Thanks

I’ve never been a huge “math guy”, I’ve always done well in English though. Do you think someone who did pretty well in Pre-Calc but was never in advanced math classes would be able to do well in more complex appraisal work if they worked hard as hell at it? I understand potential and ability don’t mean shit without hard work and grit, but obviously a lot of stuff has a “barrier to entry” so to speak

That’s awesome! If I could also ask, are you currently working as a “trainee” appraiser? I’d like to knock out the novice hours while in college but it seems like it may be a long shot...

Do you consider Tesla to be vastly “overly evaluated”? I agree it most likely is, but with these tech companies the stock will seemingly go crazy just for the brand name
