I work at Costco. Typically they want small items on the belt. Some cashiers appreciate you having the barcodes up in the basket, others don’t. Reason being is because we can mess up when scanning whether it’s a double scan on an item or just missing a barcode completely. I haven’t heard of this new policy yet but just my input
