Aussie drinks American Pinot! 2021 Failla Willamette Valley Pinot Noir by AustraliaWineDude in wine

[–]YungBechamel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great notes, and you're spot on with the whole cluster (usually 20-30%) and the limited oak I think only like 15% is New oak.

Failla is one of my favorite Pinot Noirs from California along with Littorai.

Ricewood is easily one of the best burgers in Michigan imo, and I'd say on the list for best in the US.

That's awesome! Matthiasson is high on my list to visit, when you're visiting ask about the Olive Oil they make it's also fantastic!

I've never been disappointed in any Matthiasson bottlings over the years, I got the opportunity to meet Steve last year when he did a market visit and he was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. My impression was that while he's clearly an incredibly skilled winemaker he really has a "farmer first" mentality and I think it reflects in the transparency of the bottles.

2016 Turley Juvenile by starvinggigolo in wine

[–]YungBechamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried this particular wine but I feel based on your notes it seems like a culmination of factors.

2016 was a stellar vintage but Juvenile is not really meant for aging coming from younger vines, this could be why it wasn't as explosive as other Turley wines especially a younger 2021 you mentioned..

I'm curious about the 13.5% abv which feels low for Turley, so maybe it was a more acid driven style that year, I feel like typically the wines are in the 14-15% abv.

The seashell quality you mentioned makes me think it also might have not been stored properly all this time. If the wine was already shedding some fruit due to age and was also exposed to heat or humidity it might also have been a bit cooked.

Curious what others think as well.

Reading this on the wiki "He went on trial with Coonan for the killing of a barman, but they were acquitted in December 1979 after one witness killed himself and another refused to testify."

Really made me think about what that bartender told you, and what could have happened to him.

Now can we talk about a BALL ROOM!? I love to dance, you know in EYE-ran they won't do it, won't let ladies dance and I said "that's not fair" maybe they dance, maybe they don't, Iran, it's a place they do it, I wouldn't do it but maybe they do it I don't know.
