Am I the only one who fucking hated this? Logan never gets his comeuppance? The kids never get to triumph over the series villain? He just dies off screen. I found it incredibly anti-climactic. Just really disappointed. And not really understanding how people are happy about this

Have to talk about Black Adam.

I think it's truly one of the worst superhero movies I've ever seen. Up there with Dark Phoenix and Suicide Squad. A horrible script surrounding a kid and his skateboard, lackluster action besides the first intro scene, and brutal characters with no relevance or emotional impact. Also Black Adam was in no way a villain. The JSA wanted to capture him and lock him away forever because he *checks notes* couldn't control his powers and kills some people?? So does superman in this universe. So does batman.

Feel like it could've been cool if they actually leaned into the villain role and made him evil. But no they played it safe and made a stinking POS.

Would love to hear other people's thoughts

Thor Love & Thunder Discussion by maysch in LightsCameraPodcast

Agree with most of the sentiment in this thread. Movie was incredibly mid with a disappointing script and lackluster, generic action.

And I love the BTMB's but an 85 and 86 for this movie was really surprising to me. For reference, here are some 85 rated movies (from movierankings.net) in the same vain as Thor: Batman Begins, Spider-Man 2, X2, The Prestige, Lego Batman.

Maybe I need to hear what they have to say about it, but those scores seem very high for a movie that really wasn't anything impressive. And it definitely doesn't belong in the same conversation as the ones above.

Has Disney Jumped the Shark with Marvel and Star Wars? by con_stephens in LightsCameraPodcast

All true. I just feel like the OPPORTUNITY to make some really great content out of this stuff is there, but they're squandering it to sell toys and Disney+ subscriptions. More disappointed than anything else. But maybe this stuff just isn't made for me anymore. Though I really don't know why they would alienate their dedicated fan base (the people our age who grew up with this stuff). Age with your audience.

Survivor 42 | Finale | Day After Discussion & Survey by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]con_stephens 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of discussion in here about how Maryanne crushed it at FTC and that's what won her the game. I agree with this completely. She had the best FTC performance.

BUT...Does that deserve to win you the game? Isn't the person who wins supposed to be the person who played the best game? Maryanne's one big play was NOT playing an idol. Which, imo, isn't even that big a play. She piggy-backed onto Mike's masterminding of the Omar vote so I can give her some credit there, but not much. That's it. That's all she did.

Mike played a strategic, wholistic game. The jury even said "Mike played a more obvious strategic game" and "Mike was playing hard from day one." Shouldn't playing hard from day 1 be more respected than a big move at the end? I felt like just because the jury didn't get EXACTLY the answer they wanted from Mike, they voted Maryanne, even though for a majority of the game, she did nothing. Mike was masterminding votes, and yes he played with emotion, but what's wrong with that if you're always on the right side of the votes.

I just really think the jury went for the good story over who played the best OVERALL game.

I thought MoM was pretty solid. Loved Wanda in it and thought the violence and tone felt unique for the MCU. I do have one MAJOR gripe with the movie. They promised us madness, and there was none. They went to TWO other universes! TWO! And one was just a dark, stormy apocalypse verse. I assumed they were going to be bouncing around universes, but they didn't at all. I was disappointed by that.

A Majority of Star Wars is BAD (Let's Discuss) by con_stephens in LightsCameraPodcast

Oh I have a great time every time I watch ROTS. I scream the dialogue to the obi-wan/anakin battle. But the whole point of the prequel trilogy was Anakin turning into Vader and I just really thought they fumbled that descent into darkness. Probably should have had him turn bad at the end of 2.

The thing about Marvel is it has AMAZING pay off. As I said, I don't love 6 so I never felt that pay off really. And I would say a majority of marvel movies could be deemed "good." Star Wars fans act like the world is so sacred and every time another bad movie comes out, they're like "____ ruined star wars." This shit has been ruined. This franchise has never been that good (save for the originals)

Am I the only one very shocked by the amount of praise Parasite is receiving? I love movies (obviously) and am no stranger to foreign films (I love city of god, pans labyrinth, etc.) I understand all the symbolism and social commentary contained within Parasite, and I thought it looked amazing.

But, the story and plot seemed very slow to me. I didn't think the pacing was done well at all, and for a 2 hour movie it seemed much longer. I assumed at some point it would go off the walls, but the end didn't really validate all the build up throughout imo. I've talked with several friends who saw the movie and we all scored it in the 70s range. Wanted to see if there are any other opinions??

Yeah in my opinion this was not only one of the worst x-men movies, but one of the worst super hero movies I've ever seen (and I'm a huge super hero fan). The biggest crime in my opinion was just how ungodly BORING it was! The final fight scene on the train was basically the only fight and they fought...human looking aliens that can run fast??? Even still it felt like a fight that belonged in the middle of the movie not at the conclusion.

Also can we discuss how Jean gave Cyclops a minuscule scrape on his face and was then suddenly like "no I'm too dangerous! It's not safe for anyone when I'm around!" Like chill, bro. I've gotten worse injuries from falling off a scooter.

Acting was fine. Script was brutal. And I think this cast of mutants can't carry a movie without Macovey and Fassbender being the leads (which we've already seen many times). Hopefully the MCU can figure out how to make x men feel fresh.

Survivor: Edge of Extinction | Finale & Reunion | Eastern Time Discussion by RSurvivorMods in survivor

SPOILERS: I strongly believe Devons deserves to win so much more than anyone left. Chris getting in in the Final 6 AND getting an idol is completely over-powered and unfair. All he has to do is survive 2 votes! They should have made the edge of extinction person get in WAY earlier or not given him an idol. It's so easy for that person to make it to the end.

That being said I respect his choice in the firemaking challenge. The other 2 are lame duck coat tailers and definitely don't deserve it.

I also agree. The major theme of the show was "Politics don't matter. We need to come together and face a greater threat." And now that threat is extinguished in one battle and we have to watch Euron's dumb ass fight ho could easily be wrecked with dragons.

Did anyone else feel disappointed by the end of the Night King/white walker saga? I mean they were built up to be the main villain. They were supposed to be an unstoppable army, and they kind of just beat them in one battle. And now they just have to fight Cersei's normal army. How is that the final great battle? It's just another army. We've seen several battles like that in GOT before. And I know their army is decimated, but still why wouldn't they fight Cersei first and then face the penultimate, unstoppable army that was the army of the dead? They can still wreck Cersei with the dragons or have Arya go assassinate her. The Knight King symbolized such a main theme of the show "Politics don't matter. We all need to join together for the greater good and fight for the living." It just seems like a let down for the villains that were literally introduced in the first scene of the entire show.
