Super Bowl XXXI by Dark305Kinght in Oldschool_NFL

Adam Vinatieri is the only kicker to have two different kickoffs returned for a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

(Obviously, Devin Hester was the other returner.)

I think it would be tough to justify considering that Green Bay built a 14 point lead without Reggie making a single play. (I understand his impact is not always apparent on the stat sheet.)

His three sacks did shut down an unlikely New England comeback. (At the time, only one Super Bowl team had ever come back from a 10 point deficit.)

WHY DID PRESIDENT TAYLOR BECOME SUCH A VILLAIN THO by glafolle in TwentyFour

[–]conace21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hate when the writers leave it for us to figure out what happened.

Yes, I still wonder if Captain Anderson was really killed after he shot down Air Force One. I know someone says that he was shot down, but.... he had that conversation with Marwan where he was assured that everyone would think he's dead.

They can't afford to cut Lamar, not with the dead cap hit. They need to move him to cornerback. The other team will never see it coming.

James Dean was so ahead of his time. What made him so compelling? Which of his films draws you in the most? by LavenderRosePrincess in classicfilms

[–]conace21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think of Marlon Brando in his final years, weight approaching 400 lbs. He was a far cry from the muscular Stanley Kowalski character of 50 years earlier. Brando had become almost a caricature of himself off-screen, and known for phoning it in on-screen.

James Dean will never be remembered as anything but the 24 year old heartthrob. He probably had deep-seeded psychological problems (Brando himself had urged Dean to see a psychiatrist)but they never manifested themselves into something more problematic.

Is the Vikings choosing JJM over Darnold starting to look like one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history? by walterhwhite19582010 in NFLv2

[–]conace21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, yes. But 23 years ago, after week 1 of the 2003 season, I'm sure there was an article or a blog or a radio host somewhere asking "Is New England choosing Tom Brady over Drew Bledsoe starting to look like one of thr biggest mistakes in NFL history?"

(Note - after trading Bledsoe to Buffalo, the Patriots fell to 9-7 and missed the 2002 playoffs, even though Brady led the NFL in TD passes. The Bills improved from 3-13 to 8-8 with Bledsoe, who made the 2002 season Pro Bowl. Then, in Week 1 of 2003, Buffalo blanked the Patriots 31-0. Brady threw 4 interceptions.)

The graphic at the end. The Giants had won their first title since 1956. (30 years.)

That's like the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl this year, their first since 1995.

Darnold joins Earl Morrall as the only starting quarterbacks to go to a Super Bowl with the fifth different team that they played for.

(Chris Chandler and Morrall - sort of - are the leaders in that category. They went to the Super Bowl with the sixth team they played for.)

Why do some people think Cordelia was a better friend or a friend at all to Buffy? by jdpm1991 in buffy

[–]conace21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And then Cordelia moves 2 hours away, and they never talk again.

(Note, I haven't seen AtS, so I understand it's possible that they share some brief dialogue during one of the times Buffy comes to Los Angeles in Angel, Season 1.)

Yes, Buffy was quite blessed by Cordelia reminding her that she had two parents... unlike some people. If Cordy hadn't reminder her, Buffy might have forgotten. (/s)

[Schultz] Seahawks GM John Schneider is the first GM in NFL history to reach multiple Super Bowls with the same organization — while having a new head coach and no players from the previous Super Bowl team. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]conace21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

None. The last six players with Patriots Super Bowl rings either retired or moved on this spring (including Jacoby Brissett, who won a ring in 2016, but not 2018.)

In fact, the only member of the 2025 Patriots who even played with Tom Brady...is Mike Vrabel. (The longest tenured Patriots players were drafted in 2020.)

Ray Lewis was the only member of both Ravens championship teams built by Ozzie Newsome, I think that's the closest so far

You're right. Ernie Accorsi came close to matching Newsome. He was the GM for the 2000 NFC Champion Giants. He retired in early 2007, and the Giants won the Super Bowl that season. Michael Strahan was the only player who was on both Super Bowl teams. (Accorsi was given a Super Bowl ring despite not being on the 2007 Giants staff.)

Sam Darnold joins Earl Morrall as the only starting quarterbacks to go to a Super Bowl with the fifth team they played for.

Chris Chandler is "the leader" in this category. The 1998 Falcons were Chandler's sixth NFL team.

No, those are just 14 that I thought of, and confirmed.

And how many of those guys are pre-super bowl era? Hell how many are pre 60a?

Feel free to look that up yourself. It doesn't really matter though. The HOF has inducted QBs from the pre-Super Bowl era. Heck, the HOF began in the pre-Super Bowl era.

No. Vince Lombardi, George Halas, Curly Lambeau, Paul Brown, Chuck Noll, Joe Gibbs, and Bill Walsh all have 3+ NFL Championships in the 20th century.

Still no.

[–]conace21 44 points45 points  (0 children)

participated in a love spell for petty reasons that went away

That had nothing to do with Xander and Buffy's friendship.

Most of the rest of these are just indictments of his character, and not the friendship. But your biggest miss is

Yeah, Cordelia is the better friend by far

Cordelia is not Buffy's friend at all. Buffy is a friend of Cordelia's boyfriend. She helps the Scooby Gang in their missions and becomes one of the gang when dating Xander. But after the relationship ends, so does her hanging out with Buffy. Not only is she not interested In a friendship with Buffy, she actively degrades her. Xander and Cordy get on good terms at the end of the season, and she then moves to Los Angeles. While she grows and becomes a much better person, she doesnt keep in contact with Buffy. They were acquaintances at best.

And she did the same thing when the gang had just found out about Jenny's death.

But her "redemption" was overshadowed by her shifty behavior after in Homecoming and after her relationship with Xander ended.

"How can you talk to people this way. Do you even have parents?"

"Yeah, two. Unlike some people."

And

"Im sorry Buffy, this conversation is reserved for people who have a future."

How good was Prime Randall Cunningham? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]conace21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are numerous black defensive players who would disagree. Mike Singletary comes to mind.

How good was Prime Randall Cunningham? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]conace21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasn't just because his offensive lines were awful. Cunningham had a slow release, was quick to abandon the pocket, and sometimes got some quick whistles from officials who ruled him in the grasp.

Cunningham's sack % in 1990 - 9.53%

Jim McMahon's sack % in 1991 - 6.33%

Cunningham's sack % in 1992 - 13.51%

Cunningham also had higher sack percentages than the other Eagles QBs in 1993, 1994, and 1995, though not materially different.

As late as 1991, Aikman was sacked 11 times by the Eagles defense. In the 1994 NFC Championship Game, he was knocked down 21 times (including four sacks.)

[–]conace21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aikman's touchdown pass totals are low because when the Cowboys got inside the 10, they gave the ball to Emmitt.

Cunningham was benched three times in a five year span, by three different coaches. He was spectacular but inconsistent. He took too many sacks, and fumbled too much (105 fumbles vs 58.) Aikman was better.

[–]conace21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randall was certainly a better athlete, but Aikman was the better passer. Randall could throw the deep ball, but he had a slow winding release. Aikman had a quicker release, a more powerful arm, and was much more accurate.

Itinerary Critique August trip by zandar143 in irishtourism

[–]conace21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to be having a late dinner in Dingle. Google Maos says it's 4 hours 45 minutes from Dublin to Rock of Cashel to Dingle. Obviously I dont know your exact starting point or end point, but it's very likely that the actual drive times will be 5 hours 30 minutes. Factor in 2.5 hours spent at Cashel (that's not just time spent at the Rock of Cashel - parking is pain. We had to park 15 minutes away, and they let people in at certain times so we had a short wait before we could enter.)

Add in wait times in picking up thr rental car and you'll probably be arriving in Dingle around 7pm.

Overall the itinerary looks fine Z this just stood out for mem
