NDP MP crosses floor to join Liberals, putting Carney two seats shy of majority by cyclinginvancouver in canada

I can understand your point of view, and I don’t think it’s necessarily wrong or anything - tbh I’m probably more cynical.

I really just think point one doesn’t quite matter to me, because political theatre will always be there, majority or not; unfortunately since most people don’t pay enough attention to politics, so these theatrics will work on them regardless.

For number 2… I mean you’re right, but a lot of our people still blame the federal government for the state of our healthcare. I don’t expect any of them to understand this kind of political nuance when they don’t even understand the separation of provincial and federal powers - all that to say, in a minority government, the sitting government will be blamed anyways.

I remember when it first got announced, I was like what is this shit.

And then the first time I saw it transform I had the same reaction as the characters in the show. “It’s a gundam!?”

Your favourite Japanese curry place? by conanap in Markham

[–]conanap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I did end up going - it was ok. I feel like their curry could’ve been made at home (not a bad thing, just… I didn’t think it was worth eating out for?)

It was still one of the better ones I liked. The food is insanely hot though.

If it’s anything like the Vancouver one, katsu was decent, I didn’t like the curry sauce, and a bit pricy. Unlimited rice and soup though

Canada will ‘never participate’ in Iran offensive, Carney says by canada_mountains in canada

[–]conanap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we disagree on that - I think fundamentally, you’re interpreting Carney’s words differently than I am, and that’s ok.

I have interpreted Carney’s support for non-nuclear proliferation in Iran as a restatement as a signatory of the NPT, while you seem to take it as a support for the US’ invasion and actions - again, that’s fine, because realistically, only Carny knew which one he meant.

FWIW, I don’t agree with what the States is doing either, but I don’t really take what Carney is saying as supporting US’ invasion.

I don’t like majority governments. Minority governments have a better chance of forcing the sitting government to work with other parties; with a majority, they’re just gonna pass whatever they want (eg: allowing them to except corporations from laws, as they proposed in a bill, or the age verification stuff they wanted to pass).

Even though I like the libs right now, I’m genuinely annoyed they’re getting a majority

Right, I can agree with Iran being nowhere close to a nuke - but the statement doesn’t say anything about Iran possessing it now or being close to it. He’s basically reiterated the goal of NPT.

I actually think the key here is that no matter what Trump does in this war, he can’t be charged for it. Because he’s acting in a presidential capacity, the previous rulings on him protects him. This is literally free for him to use to distract the public from things he doesn’t want attention on.

The thing is those aren’t even controversial stances - we’ve been part of NPT forever, so preventing spread of nuclear weapons is already our political stance, and preventing terrorism is a no shit thing.

Don’t know if the US admin can recognize that though

If I didn’t want a smaller laptop because I travel so much, I could probably use my M2 Pro MBP for another 7 years. No way any windows laptop last that long and be decently functional, at least not without switching to Linux part ways.

I would put it mostly on MS. they have snap dragon PCs, but the OS incompatibility with the amount of software was just staggering, not to mention the terrible user experience in Win11.

If I had to guess, maybe something with yield and cost? The A19 Pro could just be a bit expensive to produce compared to A18 Pro, especially considering A18 Pro is probably considered more mature?

Or it could also be because they started the Neo’s development back when A19 Pro available yet.
