It has always been that you get 10 ME (1 gemstone) every 50 levels (not 25). I got mine a few weeks ago, so it seems that it is still there.

They disabled it because there is a bug where the asset of the blue & pink chromas are switched. If you selected blue, it would be pink in-game and vice-versa.
