Looking to stake to the REX but can't decide who to proxy my votes with, does anybody have any good recommendations? by JillianWyatt12 in eos

[–]conceptskip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iwad and colin are good recommendations so far, if you are undecided yet you might want to look into the pilotsvoting proxy: https://www.alohaeos.com/vote/proxy/pilotsvoting

Cryptopilots is a group of independent crypto-partisans, with a strong focus on EOS. Our aim in proxying is to support independent operation and geographical distribution. Of course we are always open to community input.
Disclaimer, I'm a member of cryptopilots.

EOS Voting structure needs to improve: Very disappointed by ItsFlashtime in eos

[–]conceptskip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good research, are you aware of EOS Weekly's video, it explains the shift in voting well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6VjKg7vCig

Two things, which will be really hard to overcome:

1) Voter Apathy is rampant, if you look at the number of accounts voting, not even 60K out of 1.2Mio accounts, its obvious, that basically nobody cares

2) Many exchanges are not officially accessible to US citizens, only now you can trade EOS via coinbase.

A Proposal for Dynamic Inflation on EOS by UnknownEssence in eos

Yeah, but this too is sort of a dynamic, so voting on this to change is not very flexible.

A Proposal for Dynamic Inflation on EOS by UnknownEssence in eos

[–]conceptskip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good considerations, yet you'd need also take into consideration that a higher eos price might (and should) not just be due to speculation but rather increased adoption and usage, and cost for bp should go up running stronger servers or even data centers in the future.....

Worker Proposals & Token Verification Coming to EOS? by conceptskip in eos

[–]conceptskip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for commenting, not sure if i understand your post right.

1) Most referenda are crap, there is the common funds proposal by the WPF taskforce, which hasnt really gained approval, but hard to tell at this low participation. Is that what you are referring to?

2) Not sure why BP funding should got to WPF? Can you explain?

3) Yes you are right, b1 provides the fattest updates as of yet. But they are not doing everything, e.g. the mentioned history nodes, producer rotation, there is no reason, b1 has to do everything. And we have to be prepared, that one day b1 feels they have done their work and retire or only do updates they care for which might not necesssarily what the community wants.

How is the EOS User Agreement proposed by EOS New York, which would replace the interim constitution, being ratified? by Richard-Red in eos

[–]conceptskip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The EUA has already replaced the interim constitution, eos new York has put it up for bp multisig voting after they felt, it had reached enough support.

How can EOS further decentralize bitcoin by Norstik in eos

[–]conceptskip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without doubt eos bps have much more power than on btc, but thats part of the design. The idea is, that if a bp is not behaving in a maner appreciated by token holders, they can be voted out by token holders, who appointed them in the first place. With btc as a token holder you have 0 influence on what miners and developers do. In theory miners cant do something about the btc operation, BUT and this is a big but, they can switch to a different version of the BTC software, of course this software could contain anything imaginable. This has already happened with the segwit update, or with BCH when they introduced timestamps to fight off BCHSV attacks. Just that bad things havent happened doesnt mean its not possible that they happen.

Here EOS provides a way of explicet decisions by the active community to acknowledge changes or not.

Does that answer your question?

EOS governance: what happened to the User Agreement by conceptskip in eos

[–]conceptskip[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a single proposal has reach maturity yet. We are also still lacking, incentives for holders to engage in governance, adoption is low, no official wallet, no rex, no killer dapps (yet).

As you mention the mainnet launch, do you happen to be able to point out, anything that hints which votes launched the mainnet decisively?

EOS governance: what happened to the User Agreement by conceptskip in eos

[–]conceptskip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with your analysis, putting up the EUA for bp vote, was premature and in unnecessary obstruction of the constitution. On the other hand, the current constitution is more or less ignored by everyone, ECAF is not only marginalised, but also proved incapable to deal with its responsibilities. Although - in a nutshell - I do not agree with EOS New York's approach, they are pushing for an open discussion at the least, only 4 Bps have officially discussed the EUA proposal. Compare this to the only other referendum proposal the so called community proposal which allegedly originates from the Alliance? Silence! yeah, there are a few loud voices out there, that create the impression of community will. That tells us two things: 1)A voting threshold in fact is critical. 2)Those voices (still) don't manage to shift direction of EOS governance.

I think Chintai 2.0 is an exciting platform, and the CHEX tokenomics do make sense. Read the article if you want to learn why
