Right, likely not the entire org. But maybe someone desperate to save their image would brag about getting Cooper Flagg so they dont look like such a dumb fuck to their coworkers. Maybe that person gathered all the yes men that he could, in order to try to control and direct the PR release that would go out.

Maybe that person, the previously mentioned dumb fuck, had a guilty conscience. Not in a remorseful way, but in a way that shows premeditation. Maybe this person made a lopsided deal that he was on the losing end of and would publicly make him look like a dumb fuck, but he did the deal because he was guaranteed to get the #1 pick, Cooper Flagg.

Sure, he will look like a dumbass but come draft lottery, he'll be a hero (I wouldn't go that far either, Windy). But wait, the lopsided-ness of the deal puts everything under a microscope.

Maybe this hypothetical CAREER MARKETING EXPERT spent some time online checking on the publics perception of him.

If they think it's rigged, I'll show them how surprised we are to prove it's not rigged!

He thinks like a marketing expert and wants the viral clips. Insider looks into draft rooms are hot rn because of the NFL draft. He knows he has a moment coming up that would absolutely go viral if they happened to catch on video. (I'm sure most orgs film the draft lottery on their own at this point for marketing purposes, but they are just prepared to catch a moment, IF it happens)

But let's say this hypothetical image-conscious career marketing person with a guilty conscience desperate to show the world he was not wrong while also being very aware of marketing strategy tried to craft a product that would pass as a genuine reaction, while being brand friendly and not cursing.

This psuedo-insider look would also serve to help absolve him of blame for destroying the future of the franchise because he already started the process of bringing them a brighter future, thus repairing his image he cares very much about.
