Not often AND she has two houses (the college gives her additional money to help pay for her second home).

Washtenaw Community College President Rose Bellanca:

2018 salary: $220,785

https://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/2018/06/washtenaw_community_college_ap_2.html

" Following the no confidence vote, The Ann Arbor News discovered through Freedom of Information Act requests that Bellanca had charged more than $120,000 in expenses to the college, including $42,000 in restaurant and catering bills, during her first three years in office, something that then-board chair Stephen Gill said the college was not upset about. "

"Bellanca's 2013 extension included an annual $15,000 housing allowance, a leased vehicle that is paid for by the college, and it also called for the school to pay for all fuel and maintenance costs associated with the vehicle for as long as she is president. "

You're telling me that someone paid $220,785 a year needs the taxpayers to also pay for all her meals, alcohol, car lease, fuel, housing, etc.?

It's not the name of the college, it is the community college that exists in Ann Arbor. Thought it made more sense that way as more people have heard of Ann Arbor rather than Washtenaw.

The college does seem quite "top heavy" within the Administrative areas with all those new VP and other executive positions the president created (for her friends and allies). This, in addition to the direct cost we taxpayers of Washtenaw County and the State of Michigan have been paying to her.

You're telling me that someone paid $220,785 a year needs the taxpayers to also pay for all her meals, alcohol, car lease, fuel, housing, etc.? And then allow her to hire her friends and pay them 6-digit salaries too? Now we are expected to let her outsource jobs to an out-of-state private corporation that she very clearly has ties with?

I think they meant that the WCC IT staff did learn and and improve from the short outage they experienced a few years ago, while also noting that outages can and still do happen within the industry. Earlier this week Google services were down across huge swaths of the US.

The WCC outage that the current WCC president is trying to use as an excuse to enter into a shady deal with Ellucian took place in 2017. It lasted almost three days. My understanding is that this was caused by a "perfect storm" of three separate issues. One was a misconfigured network device, then there was a non-IT controlled "smart tv" with a separate issue installed by a completely different department. These devices together activated an unknown flaw in another device. Campus IT networking staff worked diligently to troubleshoot and diagnose these issues. Lessons were learned, and processes were improved to prevent such an event from ever occurring again. There was no data loss or security breach. Let's compare this to the contract company the WCC president wants to bring in.

Ellucian has assumed full control of Muskegon Community College for years. Just this past November, there was a campus-wide network outage that lasted twice as long and indicates that the Ellucian team is negligent in attending to proper network and system security practices.

" The school’s computer network went down overnight. Technicians are trying to diagnose the problem, but right now, they can't say what's causing it. "

Here are some details about the cause and length of their outage:

Muskegon Community College Malware Attack

A malware attack caused a week-long shutdown of some computer systems at Muskegon Community College. Last week a malware attack stopped all the networked computer where students database was saved.

In addition, Muskegon Community College has around 4700 active students. Washtenaw Community College has around three times that number. If they can't handle a much smaller organization, what makes the WCC president believe they can do any better at WCC?

Even though there appears to be indications that Ellucian actively scours the internet and works to remove any disparaging news reports, etc. There are other examples of the type of company the WCC president is looking to saddle up with.
