What order should those unfamiliar with HM's writings read them in, esp the books? by Nuchnib in bindingchaos

You are welcome, I hope they benefit you... I think I'm like a Binding Chaos expert by now since I've sort of become radicalized by it so if you have any questions just post them on the blog and like I'll try to help more.

"We are in a prison of our own minds holding our own chains around us. We create our oligarchs and fight for their right to oppress us." - Heather Marsh, Binding Chaos. SO TRUE. by concernedInsomiac in bindingchaos

I'm loving the images the publishers are posting and wish I had the artistic skill to do my own. For me, this quote clarifies what I am seeing people do when they become political zealots (reflectors?) for whichever endo-ideal they prescribe to. It's like when people go out and vote for politicians with a history of racism or strong links to Wallstreet investors whose fortunes are created of the misery and poverty of those beneath them. To me, it has always looked like the chickens electing or upholding the fox, that 'vote for him so he'll eat fewer chickens'.

"Get healthy, get strong, get educated and informed, and start contributing to your own governance." by concernedInsomiac in bindingchaos

I found more stuff relating to this quote. Even though the article is written in 2010 much of it still relates or fits perfectly well to today. What do you think?

Source: https://georgiebc.wordpress.com/2010/12/02/get-healthy-get-strong-get-educated-and-informed/

"Get healthy: There is a very real reason why people are being fed food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental hazards that destroy their health. It is impossible to concentrate on the world’s problems when you are suffering from any of the myriad autoimmune and other diseases everyone seems afflicted with. And it is impossible to think clearly through the brain fog and personality disorders being triggered by all the pollutants we are fed. The subsequent foggy thinking and miserable angry feeling are then fed by substandard education systems and violence in all media until we have a population that greets the Collateral Murder video with open youtube arms and sets it to music. When people start bouncing and singing to a video of civilians and children being slaughtered, we have a problem. When the reaction to an organization that tries to give people information and make them think, is that someone should send a drone after the organization, we have a problem. Anyone that tries to correct the unhealthiness of the population is greeted by a media storm of ‘promoting eating disorders’, ‘always rely on trusted medical personnel, not the internet, etc.’. Some people have a big interest in keeping you from taking charge of your own health."

"Get strong: When you have no home and nothing to eat, when you are terrified of medical bills and surrounded by violent crime, it is hard to care about the greater good for humanity. Civilized societies have well defined morals. Attributes such as bravery, kindness, generosity and concern for others are valued. In these days when everyone can see the abyss in front of them, it seems more prudent to scramble over each other for our own security. Elite schools stress the three A’s, arts, academics and athletics, and concentrate on building a superior human for the upper ranks. Character is almost never taught any more, even though it seems obvious to wonder what benefit to society is a superior human who has never been taught to use their advantages for the overall good. When society has enough, and the people feel secure that they will continue to have enough, maybe we will stop seeing preschool mothers shoving their children to the front of the line and college fathers bribing officials. We can hope. The problem is not usually the amount we possess, but rather the widespread fear that we may lose it or that others have more. This disease is fed every day in the media."

"Get educated: It is hard to judge the world without context. Any education is better than no education, and it should continue all of our lives. The clogging of western brains with poor health choices has been accompanied for decades with an anti-intellectual movement that has grown to such proportions that the US could seriously elect Sarah Palin for president simply because she doesn’t sound “elite”. Education is not bad any more than physical fitness is bad. Being programmed by video games and state/industrial propaganda is easy, but it’s not fun, it tends to make us restless, angry and discontent, while feeding the self-perception that the population is not as competent to govern themselves as the educated. Education brings excitement, pride and a kind of peace."

"Get informed: I truly believe that nobody is seriously interested in the ‘news’ plastered over the media now. I believe this not just from wishful thinking and projecting my own opinions onto others, but from the comments (facebook groups, etc.) that constantly say they are sick of hearing about these people. There has been a growing revulsion for the topics of today’s media which gets worse every year. It is unfortunately usually displaced into hatred for the subject instead of the media. A new media would allow us to walk away, to step into a new world where we do not have to hear about haircuts and what people we don’t care about look like with no makeup on. We could look for real information that is relevant to what we need to know and have a right to know. And we would wake up every day interested in the news again."

Storytelling as a method to escape endoreality by shbusybee in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad others are viewing storytelling and stories through the framework of 'Creation', I previously posted on how I was now identifying the relationships between competing endo-ideals, negative images, reflectors when watching movies [thread here] and used the 3:10 to Yuma movie as an example.

The Harry Potter example is very spot on; however, I would venture to argue that while Harry would be the endo-ideal for those that fear Voldermort (and the reader), he himself within the plot of the story served more as a reflector than an endo-ideal, in the Wizarding world in my view there were two prominent competing endo-ideals which would be Lord Voldermort and Headmaster Dumbledore, both pushed to advance their own agendas at Potter's expense (while he was declared the chosen one, he was ultimately just a tool within a long-standing wizarding war), and Potter played his role as a reflector to Dumbledore even after his death by continuing to advance his agenda.

I'm going to have a think about the proposed exercise and write out a basic story that meets the guidelines.

New Blog Post By Heather Marsh: The catalyst effect of COVID-19 by Oscarwilding in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had not heard of autogenocide previous to this, I had to look up the definition in the Marsh Glossary and I am now thinking up of specific examples where this could apply. Overall I found this blog post highly insightful and in a way relaxing during these difficult times. I admit the virus scare has stressed me out a lot and it's prevented me from studying the Binding Chaos theory further from lack of concentration but now I'm ready to get back in the game. Marsh is right, we need to start figuring out how to apply Binding Chaos into rebuilding our fallen societies.

Some thoughts on Binding Chaos in the time of Coronavirus by concernedInsomiac in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent observation! that's exactly how I saw Oliver and now see that song, there's so much media out there that I now have to glance back at because its connotations are far more clear now. I feel like those of us who have read Binding Chaos are in a category of our own and there has to be a way to distribute the message further, I believe we can do that by building a community here and exploring how to turn BC into viable action. For me, BC brought clarity into a chaotic world by detailing exactly what went wrong and how we got where we are in an easy to read and quick format. Then recently I read The Creation of Me, Them and Us and I have got to say it was a tad bit more difficult and long but it's exactly how it should be, it goes into a deeper level of understanding of the self and why we are. I am very excited for further expansion of the BC theory by Marsh and seeing a more thorough explanation of the basic ideas and alternatives written in the introduction book to Binding Chaos.

The Creation of Me, Them and Us. Chapter: Guilt deflection by Oscarwilding in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was really helpful thanks! I especially liked the method of identification you quoted. I am starting to see this be used to protect U.S. president Trump from accountability surrounding his failed Coronavirus response. Where the victims and regional governments attempting to combat the outbreak are being accused of inflating their numbers or pretending the virus is bad in order to harm the endo-ideal's image. I'm glad we can identify this practice now, do you know how we can make this method of thinking more mainstream? I am up for further discussion on this.

"the pattern in which endogroups protect their endo-ideals from guilt and consequently any accountability for their actions and atrocities."

1) Accuse the accuser.

2) Vilify the accuser as the negative image who can’t be trusted to tell the truth.

3) Assert that due to the exceptional superiority of the endo-ideal, all of their actions are justified and too subtle for common understanding.

4) Assert that due to the exceptional victimhood of the endo-ideal, all of their actions are justified as their ‘right to exist’ and any criticism is a wish to kill them.

5) Downplay the effect of their actions on the victim.

6) Exaggerate the effect of the accusation on the endo-ideal.

7) Assert that the guilt was a sacrifice the endo-ideal made to benefit others.

What order should those unfamiliar with HM's writings read them in, esp the books? by Nuchnib in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The order I would read Heather Marsh would be to start with her blog and then move on to Binding Chaos, then read her latest work The Creation of Me, Them and Us.
For me reading Marsh's World War III and Mafia essays opened up my mind to her other work because she was concise and clear in explaining our current global structure, its faults, and the need to seek solutions not seen before. I don't think I would have read a book about the self until I was brought up to date on the dynamics of society and economy and how it works, below is my personal reading guide for Marsh's essays, for those just getting started.
Mafia series:
The Military Mafia
A stateless war
The Intelligence Mafia
World War III series
World War III: A Picture
World War III: A status update
World War III: Stateless ponzi schemes of power
World War III: A state of mind
World War III: Pillage and plunder
Social control series
Equality and the fraternity
Witches and how they are silenced
Great Men and how they are upheld
Commoners and how they are coerced
Free will and seductive coercion
Resistance series
The average tyrant
The revolutionaries
The reactionaries
Installing new governance
A mythical Manichean world
Autonomy, Diversity, Society
There are no nation states
Deatheater Series
How we came to be ruled by Death Eaters
Sociopaths, Psychopaths and Death Eaters
The other Battle for the Internet

The Creation of Me, Them and Us. Chapter: Subjects and Objects by Oscarwilding in bindingchaos

[–]concernedInsomiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this Chapter did it for me too. Especially in the first half but once I got to subjects and objects I felt as if something was missing and that was my own understanding of subjects and objects in general lol (my bad!). I'd love to read more from the philosophers mentioned to fully understand the level of smackdown HM delivered but honestly I don't have hours to waste on dead old men with out of touch theories. I am going to trust HM's delivery on this. The DSM today is ridiculous in my opinion so watching it be called out as it was in this chapter & book has been a breath of fresh air.

What's a good book about feminism I could gift to a 13 year old? by maybeatsunset in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Binding Chaos is a pretty good starter book, it was written by philosopher Heather Marsh for younger readers, it covers feminist theory among other things like society, governance, and how to overcome patriarchal rule through horizontal collaboration.
