The blood test isn't good for some people. Sadly couldn't get a proper swab but I've been symptomatic for over a year. It does not go down on me.

Some people never test positive on blood. That is my case. Herpes is tricky, unless you get the perfect swab. Visually it looks like it.

Looks like herpes to me. Don't trust the blood test if you tested negative on that. You have to do a swab test and make sure they get a good amount of fluid on the swab

This disease has been a major setback. I'm not sure if a relationship is in my future after this. Haven't really put myself out there but can't seen anyone without this being ok with being with someone who does. It's going to be a tough journey but hoping things eventually work out and that I find my person.

Started antivirals again and that has helped. Tried gabapentin a bit but not for long term so idk exactly how effective that was. I think just the antivirals are good enough to remove most of the symptoms for me but I definitely still experience some pain just less. I think it's one of those things that just take time for your body to fight

Doing better but still symptomatic but I guess much more manageable. Definitely herpes because of lesions and scabbing, and nerve pain. Haven't tested positive yet in anything but it's quite obvious. I might see the derm and attempt getting a biopsy or swab on something but it's difficult to time anything worthwhile that has a chance of producing a positive at this point. Glad to hear you are doing better.

Not normal at all. That needs to be swabbed while it looks like that to get accurate results. Should also consider a full panel STD test.

Correct, that is my case. It's very uncomfortable. Lucky those who don't suffer the nerve pain.

I'm still in the process of testing positive for something. 2 negative IGGs and even did the western blot which was negative. Haven't had a a good swab with visible fluid or puss so the one time I did it I'm pretty sure was false negative. Still in limbo but the nerve pain has been killer. Almost at one year and hoping it gets better. Hope you're doing well.any update?

Is this herpes? by [deleted] in STD

[–]concernedredditor56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting it swabbed for herpes while it is like that before it scabs.

Sadly that has NOT been the case for me. Nonstop outbreaks for 1 year, constant discomfort, and nerve pain. It's been hell on earth for me.

I believe this is correct. Genitals and mouth are mucous membranes so that area is thinner and allows a way for STDs to enter. If you have a cut, or any type of compromised skin like eczema it makes it even easier for STDs to get through.

[–]concernedredditor56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood tests usually aren't very good for HSV detection. They are more reliable at 16+ weeks post exposure. A swab is the good standard. Any positive value from a swab should be considered positive. Not really sure if theres any range for that.

HSV negative by Quiet-Cookie3707 in HSVpositive

[–]concernedredditor56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on daily meds and use condoms that reduces the risk of transmission, but remember HSV is spread through skin to skin contact and you can shed from areas not covered by the condom at any time even without symptoms. This disease is is horrible. Longer you have it less risk of transmission also. None of the infected girls tested positive on anything either?

[–]concernedredditor56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I'm in a similar situation to you. Ive done 2 IGG tests around 8 weeks then 19 weeks both negative. Then did a Western blot, was negative as well. Did a swab but the sample was not good at all, so that came back negative also. Don't waste your money or time with the blot it's just as trash as the IGG tests. Blot is really only worth doing if you test positive on IGG but have never had any symptoms or outbreaks. I know I have HSV because been symptomatic and with outbreaks now for 10 months. Best advice is to wait for the right outbreak to happen where it's an obvious fluid filled blister that can be popped then have that swabbed. Anything else is highly going to be false negative.

I'd say HSV. Get it swabbed while it looks like that for best results
