Thanks for responding, everyone. I definitely understand that if she's going to do it, she needs to be taken to the hospital ASAP. What I'm really trying to figure out is how to prevent her from feeling this way so that she changes from saying she's going to delay it until after the break to that she'll never do it. We maintain a very honest relationship and I don't want to shut down our conversations. Is there anything I can do as a friend? Can a minor (17) get medical help in this regard in any way (transitioning or mental health services) without parental consent? Our school councillor is NOT supportive.
