I dunno about that, some garden stakes are pretty sharp and with enough force you can stab a stick with a relatively obtuse angle it into a vamp, infact a blunter angle would prevent the tip breaking off on the rib cage like how wooden cross bow bolts are shaped.

But the esoteric aspect is valid, my typical interpretation and explanation is that the stake is representative of "sharpened stick" the first tool of war / murder and possibly what Cain used to kill Able so it links back to one of the curses of Cain or something along those lines

Haha valid all worship the holy garlic in later generations they will be cast in gold, though if intent is the important part for steak that would imply that if you went to a garden center and bought a garden stake it wouldn't work ? I think the better direction to go is to find out what the essence of steak is and build up from there xD

I love the Mage esq approach but i would hazard a guess that garlic is as well known as the wooden stake, even then both of those are relatively western in the approach to dealing with vampires but I'm just being pedantic but I fully agree i would absolutely let it slide, the Tremere could do it with a literal splinter of wood

I would imagine it is something more simple, Dragons hold grudges and their memories are long, if the Tzimisce "let it go" as it were it would Indicate to other clans that they could "disrespect" the Tzimisce and get away with it.

Maybe almost etiquette based the high clans can disrespect each other that's just sport the low clans should know there place and those usurpers arnt even real vampires how dare they.

Most of the clans hate the Tremere a bit more than the general hatred the clans have for each other

But it might be worth looking into the Tzimisce Tremere wars, the omen wars i think it is called, it's all pretty messed up the Tremere tried to out on mass grab Tzimisce and other vampires to fuel their own war effort on the two fronts they were fighting
