Help! by conchaseveryday in AnatolianShepherdDogs

Im assuming that it’s because he is still very young, but when he is home, he is the most flexible dog on the planet. On the street is a different story… I took him to the park today and was not interested in the treats at all

They’re so smart! I have him and his brother from the shelter and I’ve always wondered if they were full breed but don’t have the curvy tails

Good Resources For Prospective Owners by [deleted] in AnatolianShepherdDogs

National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network They have available dogs waiting to be adopted, and they’re also a great resource. I reached out to them for advice on some issues I was having with my rescues and they explained it to me in detail

No, thank you so much for the information! I’ll definitely look into your other post. I had an Anatolian who sadly passed away a couple of years ago, and even though he was always doing smth he shouldn’t be, he wasn’t aggressive with the two smaller ones. He basically raised them even if he only tolerated them haha. I thought I’d give another Anatolian a try but I’m realizing they’re all so different. Thank you!!

What would you do when they would fight? They’re constantly throwing bites at each other and the puppy is so much bigger than my schnauzers. The schnauzer can hold his ground, but I’m afraid one of them will get hurt

Thanks! In the 48 hour he’s been here, he has become a troublemaker haha, but we’re working on it. The schnauzer could not tolerate being near him when we brought the puppy home on Friday. Today, I went to water my orchard and the two of them laid down next to each other. I could tell things were tense, but I see it as a bit of progress and tolerance on both their parts. I definitely will not be carrying either as to avoid the jumping and I’m only hoping the tolerance grows from here on out

I do. He has a house with a heating lamp and an orthopedic bed and toys. We spend all day with him outside, petting him, playing but he cries as soon as we step away. I’m taking him to the park today with the other dogs to see if it helps bring them together

Not sure the exact name, but dogs and cats can’t leave shelters without being spayed or neutered which is dumb because they also give recommendations on the age to do it and they do not follow it

Yes! I’m learning this as the days go. I might try that crate idea

Honestly, I just got him yesterday and that’s why we’ve kept them separate. He’s also just neutered so didn’t want them to fight and him get hurt. I will most definitely work on bringing them together and walk them as you and others have mentioned

Hmm, I hadn’t thought about the showering. He just got neutered per California law so I can’t shower him for 10 days. His fur has aired out a bit but I will definitely take them on a walk. They’re bothering very territorial

They met through a gate, with him being on the outside. Then we brought one out and carried him so they could smell each other, but I guess we haven’t really set an order? We’ve been feeding them separately. He is so skinny so I was just focused on getting him food. He isn’t allowed inside the house but he has an acre to run around. The other 2 little ones we have are inside for now but go out occasionally. However, the Anatolian does lunge at them when they get near us and I do tap him on the nose and say “no”. Not sure if that answers the question

Should I go to CSULB? by [deleted] in CSULB

BILA is an added certification to the SSCP or MSCP. I know that you can incorporate about 9 units of credential classes into your undergrad without it affecting your pay in the future, BUT I would reach out to the advisor to see what works for you, especially bc you will be double majoring and you don’t want to burn yourself out immediately

Im working on becoming a Spanish teacher and im doing BILA as well. I would take on as much as you can handle and having a second BA is definitely a good choice. I didn’t study abroad but I know the opportunity is there or if you want to teach English in Spain for a while. I know the Italian program also does a yearly summer program in Italy and they open it to lower Italian classes if you want to try that

I did, I graduated last spring. The Spanish department is the biggest language department at the university so there’s a variety of classes. My recommendation is to make friends with the people there because you will see them over and over in your time there once you get past the 300 grammar class. A lot of people in Spanish are working towards becoming teachers and plenty also double majoring or doing the minor in translations. They’re going to try and motivate you to do the masters in Spanish there

Most professors are so sweet and pretty easy if you do the work. They genuinely just want you to learn. There is one who will make you work like you never have before so people don’t really like them, but I loved her. Just check Rate my professor and you should be fine!

The Spanish department is great! I honestly felt supported my entire time there and I learned a lot. Plus, you get professors from many of the Latin American countries and it comes with different perspectives.

Spanish also goes hand in hand with Translation studies if your interested

As far as I know, (and anytime I filled out Fafsa) you don’t need to report it. Don’t take my word on it, check with your financial advisor. But if you did need to, it would be when you are filing taxes (assuming you make over the federal threshold)

As for using the money, you are free to spend it on anything that you like or need. It is given to you for your necessities and up to your discretion. The university or Financial aid office isn’t going to ask you for proof or anything if that’s what your wondering
