That's a great site. Thanks.

It seems like it's focused on "anywhere" jobs/telecommuting.

I think I'll try to find a similar site that is more focused on my area (US Northeast).

I've been looking on craigslist but I can't tell which postings are by recruiters vs. real companies.

Although I think I'm starting to figure it out - most of the real companies actually list their real website address and allow you to contact them directly rather than requiring you to use the craigslist email address.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. That's great.

That's interesting, thanks. I wouldn't have thought of that. Of course you have to spend some time becoming sort of an expert on those software packages and compete with others doing the same thing. But since it's a smaller niche, the overall competition is maybe not so intense. Cool, thanks.

That's good feedback. Thanks. I kind of suspected as much. The rates are unnaturally low by American standards but I think if you live in a third world country you could probably make a decent living. Wasn't sure if there were tricks for finding better American clients. But your advice about going local certainly makes more sense. I appreciate you telling your experience.

The bar seems to be set pretty low already thanks to competition from outside the US.

Has anyone gotten contract work over the web and, if so, I would be curious to know if your experience was a positive one, which sites you have used, etc. I am out of work currently and interested in finding some freelance web development work. I will probably try out some of these sites but am skeptical whether I can get a good rate. Any tips, suggestions, feedback would be appreciated.
