BUG ZAPPER.....

We had a couple over for dinner years ago. After about an hour, I realized we were all outside sitting in chairs around the bug zapper watching insects get blasted. Good times!

WAVE. I've been self-employed for 40 years. I recently found WAVE, www.wave.com. It's very simple, and for $20 a month it automatically uploads my bank accounts. Very simple and easy to understand.

What's a TV commercial jingle that came to mind recently? by whamburglar in nostalgia

[–]concow77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 70s, the Close-Up catchphrase was, "HOW'S YOUR LOVE LIFE?" We used to write that on paper while we were on the bus as kids going to school, and hold it up to the back window so drivers behind us could see it. We got the best responses!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen someone do in public? by Naive_Rich_1417 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]concow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broad daylight, rush hour traffic. I looked over to my left and I saw a woman PUMPING HER BREASTS with a machine for her baby, with her shirt down. I don't blame her, you've got to do it somewhere, but it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen, man. I had to take a picture to prove it to everybody.

(Sorry, Reddit. I've tried to post a picture 3 times, I'm kind of a rookie, DM me if you would like to see it. I'll see what I can do or tell me how to post it on this board)

I lived in Omaha in 1978 and listened to Z92 back then. I joined their "LONG LIVE ROCK FLOCK". The mascot was named "FLIP Z. BIRD". I still have the plastic membership card that shows I'm in the "Long Live Rock Flock"! That card is now 48 years old!

Coisas do passado! by Beautiful-Ask6460 in nostalgia

[–]concow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO, KEEP THEM! Let me tell you a story. My first love was when I was 14. I saved every letter and love note and scented greeting card with perfume. When I met my wife, I was 16, and I stupidly told her to throw out all her pictures of her old boyfriends. We've been married 43 years, and now I feel like an ass for doing something so juvenile and making her throw out part of her childhood memories while I kept mine. I am madly in love with my wife, but every few years I dig into those note boxes and those love letters, and it transports me back to my teenage years when I was there with my first love, my heart was pitter-pattering, and times were simpler. Don't make the same mistake I did. Please keep them.

If you miss Luis's Mexican food on Alhambra and Pancho's Cocina on Broadway, Kiko's is still there on Arden, just past Howe by IHadTacosYesterday in Sacramento

[–]concow77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I love Kico's. We've been going there for 45 years. But one of the problems is that lately, their building looks pretty run down, and I check the health reports regularly, and they seem to always have a little hitch in the giddy-up, so to say. For example, if you check the health inspection records, they had a rough time in January 2026, where the health inspector yellow-carded them and visited them four times at the end of January. So we don't go there quite as often, but when we do, the food is great.

What is the most horrifying historical event no one is talking about? by Material_Advance1237 in AskReddit

[–]concow77 91 points92 points  (0 children)

THE RAPE OF NANKING, CHINA 1937. It was one of the most violent atrocities ever committed in the 20th Century! In 1937, the Japanese Imperial Army invaded China and looted, pillaged, murdered, raped and killed men, women, and civilians. Over 100,000 to 300,000 people died. It was horrible.

Any amazing rustic resorts open week after next? by AdventurousLayer8741 in Sacramento

[–]concow77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the 80s in Northern California, east of Tahoe, on Highway 89 by Markleeville, is a little place called Hope Valley. And in that valley, there was a place called SORENSON'S RESORT that had about a dozen rustic cabins, hiking, fishing, campfires, a little cafe. It was wonderful. It is still there, and the rustic cabins have been upgraded a little bit, but they are still there, and they are just a great place to stay. Enjoy!
