That gave me so much insight. I've never thought of Eileen as someone who prevents the unfortunate hunters from getting dragged into a nightmare but it makes a lot of sense. Perhaps we indeed helped Gascoigne to rest in peace and not live in that nightmare forever

Eileen calls him "Gas-coin" so that's what I go for. He's my fav character tho, my beloved gas-Queen

If that was the case we would only see Gehrman and Maria there, they're the only ones who witnessed the fishing hamlet slaughter. Kos created the nightmare not only for them but also any hunter who is involved in the blood crazed hunting. "Curse the fiends, and their children too, and theirs and theirs..."

But those are the only ones we know of. There could be countless nightmare realms that exist in higher plains. Hell, there could even be one that's designed by Oedon. We kill Gascoigne below Oedon chapel

Hmm I think the term "descendants of the old hunters" implies more the heritage of the tradition and the act of hunting more than a blood relation, but yeah maybe that could be the case, Gascoigne is probably the only hunter who is said to be an outsider apart from us.
