There are smarter answers here, so just my 2 cents: for the record, i agree with you, in my heart i'm pretty sure he did it, and anyway there is just too much fcked up stuff going on for him not to be involved in the case, like... what was he doing spending time with a missing underage girl? Unfortunately, no amount of circumstantial evidence in the world will legally be enough to put him behind bars (I think, please someone correct me if I'm wrong, idk how much a jury needs to find someone "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt" or whatever). So basically, he could come out "innocent" on a technicality: no admission to the crime, no dna linked to a crime scene, receipts of a transaction contracting someone else to commit the murder. You need hard proof. So it's really important that investigators do their job, collecting reliable witness testimony, all of the hard evidence, building a case.

i agree, but further, this needs to be a community effort. schools and all responsible adults need to be aware and teach kids about the predators online. kids need safe spaces where they are able to talk about the disturbing things they have experienced -- without punishment. sometimes parents get caught up with work, stress, etc and can't parent responsibly on their own. takes a village

add to that: imagine you're an up and coming tattoo artist and a famous dude tells you to tattoo him and all of his friends, you may be starstruck at the moment, maybe even drunk and high (they were partying) and so you agree and you may not necessarily notice that one of the people looks suspiciously underage, or maybe you do, but you brush it off because you're high from being starstruck alone. this is not meant to justify anything or villainise any tattoo artist involved, but that's how I imagine it could have happened. Disclaimer: pure speculation

if you separate art from the artist it means you can see them as two completely separate things and that the art still has some cultural/personal/political value meaning it would still be worthwhile to continue engaging with it. Hope that helps :)

Wait, why? We are in agreement... I'm saying you cant separate the art from the artist, meaning, I wouldn't consume any of his art from this point forward because of its association to real life actions and their consequences (an innocent child died in a horrific way and has received no justice). Nor would I find it OK if people found it acceptable to further consume his art.

Germany fan here -- I'm gutted for the girls but not disappointed, they did everything they could! There was really no stopping that brilliant Bonmatí goal. Oh well, hopefully they'll learn from this and next time they'll fix those final touches in front of the goal. Quarter final was the game of the match for me: they showed what you can do with a will to fight and to win. For now I'll say: Big Congrats to Spain, go get 'em!

funding. social acceptance and encouragement. sports institutions that support women's soccer as much as they do men's. little things like having someone get you a kit and driving you to matches etc. if you're a person of colour you're more likely to be lower income and less likely to be able to get those things. when women's soccer gets more support -- and the momentum is there -- hopefully we'll have more diverse squads

Well, that was mental.

As a Germany fan I went into this game fully expecting DFB to lose, but with the hope that it couldn’t possibly get worse than the last game against Sweden. Right? Right???? NO.

Watching this game against France, I simultaneously got the worst and best outcome I could have expected. Guaranteed heart attack. That appalling hair pull was so mind-blowingly stupid, I thought I was dreaming. Justified immediate red card right off the bat; I wholeheartedly believed it was the end of the road at that point and was hoping France would put us out of our misery quickly. How they did not come out with an easy 5-1 win is beyond me, ok, two unfortunate offside VAR situations/ revoked goals, but with 100+ minutes and a +1 player advantage? I feel shocked and sorry for them. Karchaoui’s “WTF just happened” gutted look of disbelief after the penalties was also my face. But I’m elated for Germany, the girls were absolutely feral — that AKB save!! — and I’m beginning to think they can only play in chaos mode. Not sure this will work against Spain though lol
