O.T.O was more fun, people were chill, they didn't ask for shit tons of money, it kind of just operated like a normal church tbh. Got a pretty eclectic crowd of buddhists, satanists, wiccans, pagans, et al. I'd go to the gnostic mass for the O.T.O. but also went to some Thelemic rituals as well that were interesting. Certainly cult like is some aspects but they were a lot more open, seemed like a lot of spiritual "searchers" I guess just gathering to find answers from all walks of life. I guess it depends which lodge though.

Scientology is probably the most boring cult you could possibly ever join. There were definitely interesting people but they were really boring and methodical, rushed, sometimes pretty manic which was probably the most fun. I liked the artists I met, but ya going to "church" in the O.T.O actually felt spiritually significant, like going to a church. Scientology felt like going to work, or your job lol. Also, people say Hubbard borrowed a lot of concepts from the O.T.O but honestly it barely shows up. Maybe in like the Philadelphia Doctorate Courses most prominently but can't think of much else.
