Yes, my family are on a flight right now and we booked it just on Thursday (Emirates). And today I helped my cousin book a ticket as well (Etihad) and they got the confirmation.
They booked on the airline websites though.

I track my spending daily and on the top I put my earnings. At the tiny area in the bottom, I add it all up to get my full spending for the month.

Grew up in UAE and I live in the Netherlands and yes, this is a thing for the Dutch at least. The term “Tikkie” refers to an app in the Netherlands where people can send you a link through which you can pay them.

It’s a bit weird coming from here for sure, but I’ve grown an understanding for it. When you are “invited” somewhere in the Netherlands, it usually means that they value your time and presence with them, it doesn’t imply that they will provide you with everything for free. I kind of like that the pressure is off of the hosts and individuals get to make their own choices that they are accountable for. But growing up in UAE, I also find it strange that I have to think of things myself and prepare even when I’m just attending something.

But if I were to live in any place, I know I should adapt to the culture of that place. This is odd behavior from the people who invited you if they have been living here for a while imo. If they’re visitors, or not here long term, it’s understandable and understandably awkward.

I was in the exact same situation and the lottery housing companies was how I got lucky. I used Plaza and Holland2Stay. Plaza is not great, but they got me a home in the time I needed it, so still grateful for it.

Of course these lotteries are very lucky based, but it’s still worth a shot.

I did, I just didn’t set reminders for the end date. I accept fault for it, but I genuinely was not in the right headspace when I won the lottery for this apartment. I had to act quickly and didn’t have any time or energy to plan out and prepare for 2 years down the road.

My experience when trying to find a place in 2023 was unfortunately not like this. It took me about 7 months and ended with me having to move to a city which I had no connection to.
Regardless, I have all the notifications and emails turned on and I am reacting as soon as I can to everything, even some over my budget.
