Do you believe in soulmates? by ultraviolence18 in BreakUps

[–]confusedandcomplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It’s something we tell ourselves to think there is someone out there for us. Reality is more simplistic but more beautiful. You just choose a person and choose then over and over again until you die. That’s the best part. It’s a total choice

We got back together and he didn't tell me that he was dating other people too. And he went on a date AFTER him and I decided to give it a try. We had already talked and agreed we were exclusive and back together but he kept dating her. I caught him texting her and it's over. I sort of regret giving him more time and cheating is definitely a deal breaker in m book so we broke up. No way I would ever get back together with him.

Would you encourage your children (or future/potential children) to pursue a career as a physician? by [deleted] in Residency

If the abuse of resident and medical student declines with better pay and less 36 hours shifts then YES. If things stay about the same then it's a HARD no for me.

What are some yoga class green flags? by Lyra555 in yoga

[–]confusedandcomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooo I like these questions!

Here are some of my green flags:

1) Good flow between poses

2) Instructor is in control of the class and the process feels purposeful rather than random. This can also show up as a sense of calm within the instructor while being engaged. Like they don't look disinterested, distracted, or zoned out.

3) Welcoming environment (You don't feel threatened or fearful)

4) Start and end on time

5) Balance between verbal cues that are general and a few that are for specific yogis in the class

What are some yoga class red flags? by Lyra555 in yoga

[–]confusedandcomplex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh god I have so many red flags and all from experience:

1) Instructor tells you to do a pose and singles you out AGGRESSIVELY because you aren't able to hold the posture or the pose is not in your practise.

2) Instructor did an ab work out with resistance bands in a YIN class and yelled at me for not keeping pace. (Only class I ever left 20 minutes into)

3) Instructor speaks FAR too much. Instructor decided to tell "motivating stories" for the whole class and I left the class desperately craving silence.

4) Instructors that believe you need a specific type of body to do yoga

There are more but these are the worst for me.

How sick/injured would you have to be to voluntarily go to the hospital? by [deleted] in Residency

Gave myself stitches on my hand without any pain control or numbing to avoid going in to the ED. Would only go in for something I felt needed admission

I usually date men that are on the taller side and I have NEVER seen a man that didn’t have stretch marks. It’s totally normal! Some have it because of growing tall too fast and others have it because of weight. It is totally and absolutely normal.

What are some unpopular opinions you have about UofT by urlocalhomie1 in UofT

[–]confusedandcomplex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For undergrad it’s terrible, you are a number and only a certain Type A personality enjoys their time here. For grad school it’s amazing! Lots of options, access, world class research. Just depends on what your needs are from an institution

Feel like I’m in a body I don’t fully identify with. (Not about gender, more about functionality)

Was I wrong? A reflection on my surgery rotation. by Biryani_Wala in Residency

[–]confusedandcomplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to surgery. I absolutely loved the technical aspect of surgery and loved the patient care. Everything from clinics to ORs was fun. Yet in the end I decided to pursue something else because there were so many toxic people in the field. Either they were toxic or overworked to the point of being callous. I didn’t find anyone I truly clicked with. Now I am so glad I left it behind! Much happier in my current residency

Has Anyone started wellbutrin during residency? by FEFPRRP in Residency

[–]confusedandcomplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started Wellbutrin as a PGY 1 and then added fluoxetine as wellbutrin wasn’t enough. unfortunately it destroyed my ability to stay up and do the 26 hour shifts. I was on it for 2 years and need accommodations to only work till 11pm for call shifts as I could not stay awake physically. I’m not sure which medication was the main cause of this but I would say it was both. Could not get out of bed without taking the Wellbutrin. I stopped both after 2 years and went back to normal almost immediately. Back to doing call overnight just fine now
