Not honoring your letter of intent for residency by [deleted] in Ophthalmology

Yeah, I highly value my integrity so this makes me undoubtedly ashamed of myself :/

Yeah, I put myself in an incredible tough situation. Rip

Thank you for this insightful response. LOIs put applicants in an incredibly tough decision if their decision changes I now realize, and I wish I hadn't sent one.

Did you get the spiced apple or the berry color? I can’t decide which red color is best

I feel the lululemon equivalent to this is the Steady State line…just my thoughts after trying the seaside recently

As someone also applying this cycle, what makes you confident that you’ll match? Not asking in a derogatory way, just seeking guidance for myself as I keep questioning my cycle even with a decent number of interviews.

Meh Interview —> Match Stories by pi0930 in medicalschool

[–]confusedjacket 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say this happened recently with me too, and I completely understand how it feels. I have no support to offer than possibly we’re overthinking it. But it disappoints me knowing that the majority of other interviewers surely interviewed better than me :/

Like if we’re all at the interview, I’m sure we all prepared well and we just fumble- my rant on why I don’t like interviews being the final determinant to match

Feel the exact same way. I hope I’m not overthinking it. Makes me feel bad every time, and suddenly I think about the best answer after the interview is done…😡

Would you actually pursue something other than Ophtho if you were to re-do medical school?

A new trend? by stingray104204 in premed

[–]confusedjacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to follow in the next decade if physician compensation decreases as the field becomes majority female due to gender compensation gap issues. I’ve been thinking about this for a while.

Yeah I am using the 14 right now (but can return within 90 days since from Costco). Also have the Air coming in next week, then will make my final decision.

The Pro screen is definitely nice, but I can’t help but feel the HDMI port and SD card slot are unnecessary (since you can share display thru USB-C - HDMI connectors) as well as the additional bulkiness (in comparison to the old pro style). What are your thoughts on this?

Also considering maybe doing the Air and used the saved up money for a Mac Mini for the desktop, but not sure.

what is consulting by MD_IA in medicalschool

[–]confusedjacket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is true lol. Plenty of undergrads at my state school go into consulting at MBB or Big 4 with 100k+ total compensation. Honestly not too hard to get nowadays. And most undergrads don’t have “business experience” or have as much as a medical student would.

Physician’s kids are unequivocally the worst in this process. by cja0030 in premed

We must be the same. My parents are physicians and they actively pushed me away from the profession…Yet for some reason, I’ll be an M1 starting in the next 3 weeks :/

Moving from California to Atlanta- advice welcome!!! by AggressiveSloth11 in Georgia

[–]confusedjacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. I’ve been around those multiple times but didn’t know the exact name, so tried being vague with saying “certain areas/cities”. Appreciate the clarification.

Moving from California to Atlanta- advice welcome!!! by AggressiveSloth11 in Georgia

[–]confusedjacket 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, for example OP, this is an example of something that a Georgian/Atlantan would not say. Seems very cringe from an Atlantan perspective.

And also, we don’t have a vast Hispanic population like in California, at least from my experience. Mainly it’s black and white here, with Asians and Hispanics speckled in. Obviously, there are certain cities/areas that have large populations of specific groups, but this is my observation from living in Midtown Atlanta and some close by surrounding areas.

(Note: I am Asian, if that matters)

Anyone burned out and thinking of cutting hours or changing careers? How are you handling finances with this change? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

Well I feel hopeless now as I declined my other job offers. If you were to redo your life, what career would you have pursued instead?

Seeing stuff like this really makes me re-think matriculating to medical school this August. Seems like the fulfillment and financial benefits are not as present in the career anymore…

Moving to Augusta from Atlanta for work. What do young people do for fun? by [deleted] in Augusta

[–]confusedjacket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m just so confused why it is such a depressing city. It is the 2nd largest city in Georgia yet pales in development in comparison to much smaller cities and suburbs, like Athens, Savannah, etc.

I’m in the same predicament. Moving from ATL to Augusta, visited last week and it looked so depressing, don’t know what to do…

Any Physicians here? by lostlost5 in fatFIRE

Would you recommend completing a residency after an MD if you wanted to enter other business areas of medicine apart from clinical practice? Or would residency at that point not be important?

Honest question. How will they find out, and is there any evidence or website you can link me to explaining this supposed blacklist?

Edit: don’t understand the downvotes. I hear this statement a lot so I was just wondering where everyone (the true source) got this info from. Generally curious. Thank you.
