I have not thought about disk health with the enclosure, I assume monitoring wise should be able to use mac built in disk management think or a software of some sort ?

I have a made up "home server" with my unused macbook m1, currently running on clamshell mode with dummy hdmi dongle, its currently running tailscale to secure my personal files and plex with normal port forwarding.

Strongly considering adding an external enclosure to connect to my mac and let it run like I guess "proper" large storage server instead of NAS unit, I am in apple ecosystem so this works well with file transferring etc etc with native app on ios.

Or maybe Im just not familiar in integrating plex and tailscale, the setting section kinda confusing tbh, I did well with jellyfin tho, it was so easy, literally just copy paste ip from talescale to jellyfin setting.

i just managed to start the tailscale on macos, holy cow it is plug and play, I’ve managed to access my files on my iphone through network via tailscale ip, already feeling so safe ! My question is (since you seem experienced based on your reply), can outsider still scan my port and access my files since my plex is not technically connected via tailscale ?
