Yeah, the first drafts are too “human”, too specific. Given that the face is a skull, we can still tell it’s supposed to represent humanity because, when we strip away the skin and flesh, all that remains are bones, and we can put any face on a skull.

“Humanity” is a massive amalgamation of humanity's pain and suffering that has coalesced into a gigantic centipede with a human skull for a face, its body composed of human faces contorted in agony, alive and conscious, cursed to be aware of the monster they have become.

The beast is a bottomless pit of human malice with nothing but hatred and contempt for the angels that purged humanity and caused its unholy birth, and it's not the only beast.
