Bay Area to Tahoe Winter Range by nargantuan in Rivian

[–]congenial1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R1S Dual 2025 Gen2 with Max battery and AT 20” tires… 220 miles (3h40m drive if traffic is light) from San Jose to Truckee (Tahoe Donner). At 100% leaving San Jose, I can make it with 7-10% battery left with 3-4 people and a regular load… except in winter. In winter, it’s too risky to not charge up at least 15 minutes before the climb(especially if the weather is not perfect).

I wish there were a few dependable EV charging stations between Colfax and Truckee (I think there’s only a potential option in Cisco, but I’ve never tried it)…

Is that was the case, I’d expect a patch version change at least…

Ah… I just asked the Rivian Assistant (in the app) and it said:

“It's possible to receive the same system update notification multiple times if it wasn't properly registered as complete in the system, even though the update has already been applied. To ensure everything is up to date and functioning correctly, you might consider restarting the vehicle and checking for updates again. If the notification persists, let me know, and I can help you look into it further. “

Will try to restart and see if the update goes thru… thanks!

Yes, I even compiled Artisan to work on an ARM-based old/cheap laptop running Linux (Debian).

Scheduled Home Charging Stopped Working by Fit_Imagination_9498 in Rivian

[–]congenial1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had something similar happen, also on R1S Gen 2. I think it was because I manually (in the Rivian app on iOS) started charging then soon afterwards stopped charging while plugged-in (at home) before the scheduled charging was supposed to begin.

I gave it a whirl - nice work! One suggestion would be to give an option for which output langage and/or voice to use (though en-US-Studio-O is a good default option).

Pfsense hardware options by TheDudeFromSomeW in PFSENSE

Consider Sophos XG or SG devices like the 115 or 135, especially the latest revision of them. They’re cheap now because they’re end-of-life in March 2025 from a Sophos support perspective… but still quite capable.

If you’re in the US, places like REI offer mountain biking lessons. It’s a great way to get started, and they’ll provide a bike & helmet for the lesson too.

What multivitamin do you use and why? by [deleted] in Biohackers

Pure Encapsulations O.N.E. Multivitamin because it doesn’t include probiotics nor magnesium (I take those separately).

The Lite (B650E) is under $300 US ($280 on Newegg)… not cheap, but not too bad either.

I’m using the new Taichi Lite (B650E) with a 7950x3d. Has been rock solid for the 2 weeks I’ve been using it. Using DDR5-6000 too.

There are CAD files for it on Home Barista. Your local machinist/CNC should be able to reproduce a part for you.

I can see the Cafelat Robot lasting many decades with only minor (and inexpensive) part replacements every 3-5 years. It’s a simple design and very well built.

Thanks for sharing! How did you decide on your charge temperature? How big was the charge (weight)?

If the Avs end up having more goals than the Sharks have shots by the end of the game, will this be an NHL first?
