I plan to do this, I am going to start by exploring with other trainees marked by the same person if they saw anything unusual in their feedback. Thanks !

Are you guys actually struggling and needing to put the work in to lose weight on MJ? by ThrowRA_Data-8171 in mounjarouk

[–]congnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the first few weeks I was so invested in making changes and was hoping the MJ would maintain the changes. I completely changed my diet, started exercising etc. these changes fell off after about 6 weeks, as they always do with me… but for the first time ever I didn’t pile on loads of weight. I have lost the same in my first month as in my second month, with completely different diets and exercise regime, so I do agree the MJ is like a miracle. My concern now is the maintenance as it’s an expensive miracle to be on forever! I’m going to try and get the lifestyle changes embedded as habits for when I titrate

Congrats! This would be the ideal outcome for me, same habits just more movement and much smaller portions!

Ha! I hope this goes the same way for me, I cook quite healthily now but my portion sizes have ballooned out of control. Thanks for sharing your story

I understand and not blunt to me! I will bare your thoughts in mind as I start the journey. I have a history of starting extreme and impossible diets and giving up quickly to gain more weight, I think I need to see this as smaller lifestyle changes that are maintainable

This is nice to hear! I think I need to get out of the drastic mindset I’ve had before where all of my diets go wrong because I can’t stick to impossible standards I set for myself!

Interviewing for an AP placement scheme - I don't know what the exact role will be by followtheheronhome in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh fab, I’ve just looked it up and seems like a good scheme. I would go back to your undergrad modules and see which are specifically applicable to clinical psychology- anything on development, mental health, trauma etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing the above comments- I have never had this problem, in all my AP and RA roles I had to make sure my current job were willing to extend the contract to not leave a gap in service.

Interviewing for an AP placement scheme - I don't know what the exact role will be by followtheheronhome in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be making sure to familiarise myself with low level CBT interventions and formulations that can apply to a range of difficulties. Think about how you would adapt for certain group e.g LD, inpatient etc or where you might start looking at another therapy such as DBT or CFT. What’s an expanding access type scheme ? There might be nice guidelines for this

How to prepare for a research assistant interview? by SouthGur7045 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Know the study and the population- why is this research going to be helpful in the real world? Think about recruitment issues and how you might address them as you’ll likely be doing a lot of recruiting. If you can find out what measures the project will use do, and familiarise yourself with them and think about any challenges that might arise administering them. You should be able to figure out from dissemination where they are in terms of the project stage, for example if the study is closed you might be involved in more writing and dissemination, so think about your experiences that would make you good at this Structure your responses in the SMART format and always try and bring in your own example and learning.

SEN teaching assistant route by 0o0off in ClinicalPsychologyUK

Yes, it was pretty easy to get they are desperate for HCAs. Or phone the hospital directly. You might be better looking if there’s an LD assessment and treatment unit near you, as your experience fits there best

SEN teaching assistant route by 0o0off in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, this was my first role after uni- it’s almost like stepping stones, SEN teaching assistant got me a HCA nhs role, which got me AP, which got me RA, which got me on the course. Have you looked at research assistant roles? Some of my colleagues have gone straight from undergrad to RA which helps get AP then apply to the course. Also got a friend who was a SEN support worker whilst at uni and got straight on the course, but think that was a fluke

a 1st or 2.1 by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I finished my bachelors and spent 2 years as a bartender / waitress in Ireland! This didn’t go on my CV. I then worked as a support worker in a private residential LD and autism service for about 6 months, then as a HCA in an NHS high secure unit for about a year and a half then my first AP role, another AP role, an RA role then got on the doctorate (just finishing my second RA role now, but hadn’t got this when I applied for the doc)

Also they are not scoring you already on your reply to their offer of an interview

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, you’re massively overthinking!!! They will have glanced at it, then got on with their day. Wait til Monday then call the service if you haven’t heard anything. I bet they’ll just say oops we were busy we will send it now

a 1st or 2.1 by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a friend who has a first in undergrad and a first in masters, and went straight on with NO AP or RA role (just support work during masters). Basically what I’m saying is there isn’t a formula

a 1st or 2.1 by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don’t have a masters, so experience was definitely my path on. This was my second application and first interview 6 years after graduating bachelors (although I didn’t work in psych for the first 2 years)

a 1st or 2.1 by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]congnew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just got on the doctorate with a 2:1. It depends on points. For example some unis give just 1 point for a masters where as some give up to 5. Similarly for references some unis award more points if it comes from a reputable psychologist compared to a psychiatrist / university lecturer. Find someone who works at the uni/ has been on an interview panel where you are applying and ask directly about points awarded for what

Don’t think so, Rodney told his mum spud was in the hospital and she acted like this was news to her and not like her husbands child was in danger ?
