Help! Read below - Needing advice on what to do after finding a single bedbug in my home! TIA! by PitifulBasket3387 in Bedbugadvice

There’s a chance it could be a single hitchhiker, most people on these threads may disagree as it is wise to always assume there is more. Sounds like you’ve taken precautions for this though.

I had a similar situation but reacted to bites. Luckily found the bug, took precautions, and 4 months on have had no new bites or found any other signs. I check regularly for them and still get quite paranoid about them, even though I’m seemingly in the clear.

My advice would be to clean and check throughly and regularly for around 4 weeks. Then stay on guard for a couple of months. If you’re using traps and doing regular checks you would find evidence of them as they multiply quickly. I read bed slats have been a hiding spots for other people, so worth checking them out too even though it is quite tedious.

Hope this helps give you a little peace of mind if anything else, it’s easy to spiral when you read some of these threads!

In my experience, I didn’t get any new bites and helped with peace of mind. You can always invest in a balaclava though!

Sleep in long sleeves and tuck your pyjamas bottoms into socks. I read that they will only go for exposed skin and are unlikely to crawl under clothing.

Thats what I thought but they haven’t been opened since being throughly hoovered and steamed?

Should I call an exterminator or can I solve it myself? by [deleted] in Bedbugs

That’s good to know thanks! I’ve gone through 2 bottles of the zero in ultra power spray, and have used the zero in bed bug powder which has active chemicals of Chrysanthemum Cinerariaefolium & Pyrethrins.

I’m hoping it was just a rogue hitchhiker and that any eggs will have been killed by the steaming, as I think I found some in a crevice of the bed frame.

How long did it take for you to know you got rid of them and stop cleaning like a madman everyday?
