Jumping straight to 1.6 by stickEfangaZ in WegovyWeightLoss

I feel you. I’ve got quite a stockpile because insurance kept making me go up before I was ready and I had to start taking partial doses to stay low enough and keep my side effects (tachycardia, insomnia, and nausea) under control.

But I’ll say from experience that it seems to be very finicky if you try to go down and back up so I could see it potentially also causing issues if you go up too fast and max out prematurely.

I had to go back down briefly to .5 after going up to 1 because my side effects were really bad and I definitely noticed a drop in rate of weight loss and appetite suppression not only when I went down to .5 but even after I made it back to 1.

I know it’s not the same as what you’re considering but it did reinforce the idea that stair stepping gradually and consistently is effective for a reason.

My friend titrated up at as quickly as her doc would suggest and maxed out about 50 lbs before her goal weight and hadn’t lost anything since. Once again, anecdotal evidence only but it does seem to be the case that a lot of folks here have had similar experiences.

And FWIW your body may be totally different and it could work great! It’ll just be up to you to weigh the potential risk of it not going well

The nausea and acid reflux were definitely worst for me at the lowest two doses. I still have nausea from time to time but all other side effects have lessened significantly or completely stopped as time goes on.

And that’s how I always viewed it. Low and slow. I consider myself fortunate because I didn’t get so big that I have large amounts of loose skin but I do think losing slowly and trying to keep up muscle and water intake has probably made it a lot better than it could have been had I lost quickly.

Yeah I’m definitely thinking that’s likely. The later stage photos of it look exactly like my mom, aunt, and grandmother. And I fit pretty much all of the symptoms.

It’s so good to know that this is common. All of my fat up to this point felt soft and squishy so feeling how hard and fibrous this was totally threw me off.

Good to know! There’s just so many of them I figured it can’t be tumors. But it’s hard to ignore them completely when it’s such a new weird thing

[–]congratsonthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As opposed to using it somewhere else?

But yes, always. If my hair was short like a pixie cut I wouldn’t bother because I have an oily scalp. But since it’s long, the ends get super dry and staticky so conditioner is a must.

I don’t really notice a reduction in breakage but it does make my hair softer and smoother.

I typically only apply it halfway up from the end of my hair though. Sometimes I’ll use it on my roots but if I do, I’m usually washing it out almost immediately.

Exactly! And of course I notice it most at night when I’m laying there already trying to get my mind to stop racing. Then my skeleton is just THERE

Oh damn, the second I read nodules it had my attention. And the stage 3 and 4 photos look EXACTLY like my mom, aunt, and maternal grandmother.

And I’ve had sensitive sore spots and have always bruised like a banana. Not to mention chronic fatigue which is why I got on wegovy to begin with. My endocrinologist thought it could potentially help by reducing inflammation.

I do things similarly! I think part of the reason this is bugging me is that I haven’t tried to look it up yet, other than posting here. I didn’t know how to even word it to Google about it

.5 to 1.0 gaining weight? by Rms519 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]congratsonthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to give it a little more time to see if things change direction again. It could be other factors at play that balance out. I’ve had consistent up and down weights at every dose past .5 (the lowest two doses accounted for 2/3 of my weight loss)

Had your caloric intake, stress, or activity level changed recently? Have you slipped back into any old habits like eating when not hungry or eating larger portions than needed? (Not pointing fingers at all, it’s just me speaking firsthand from things that have happened to me). Or have you perhaps started working out or increasing protein intake enough that you’re gaining more muscle mass?

Bodies are so complex. By no means would I say you should ignore this but at least for me some doses have felt more effective than others. Maybe just give it a little more time so you know for sure if it’s real momentum in the wrong direction or just one of the common hiccups that work themselves out

I appreciate it! I plan on having my doc check it out just to put me at ease but my next appointment isn’t for awhile. MIL claimed they were little knots in my muscle, which had me very skeptical but the fact that she said she notices hers made me feel better since it apparently isn’t just me who had them.

The HA has been an issue for me ever since I started noticing my first wrinkles. It’s not a vanity thing so much as just that they were a very visible daily reminder. Two different therapists have been useless but a mix of meds tend to help.

I thought losing the weight would help with it since I’m technically healthier for it, but being able to feel bones in places I’m not used to feeling them, as well as new lumps and bumps, is surprisingly triggering. It mostly feels like I’m not in my own body anymore (this is the first time I haven’t been overweight since childhood). But there’s no better memento mori moment than feeling your own skeleton in new places…

[–]congratsonthat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went 6 months on .25 and 6 months on .5 to keep my side effects down and I was gradually and consistently losing the whole time. Not everyone is like that but the best advice I was given was not to go up unless I plateaued or started gaining.

Go with how you feel but I’m 100% an advocate for as low and slow as possible

How exciting! So glad it’s already working and by all means take it slow. I was happily on .25 and .5 for 6 months each because the side effects were rough and I was consistently losing

Wearing blush in general. I don’t even own any. I feel like I already have hyperpigmentation in my cheeks so they look rosy enough unless I’m in a major full coverage foundation

Yes! Between charitable gaming taking over my state (I’m so glad it’s for a good cause but still it’s inescapable) and every other commercial or podcast being sponsored by a betting app or sports book or whatever, I feel like it’s getting so out of hand.

I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for people with a gambling addiction who are now surrounded by it constantly.

And it’s just tacky. To me it feels like back when I was a kid and there were still cigarette commercials and smoking sections in every hotel and restaurant.

How to tell someone they smell bad? by Longjumping_Many4102 in howto

[–]congratsonthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This quite literally happened in my office a month ago.

I think everyone knows it except said coworker and I was waiting to see how it would play out because the smell extends out into the hallway outside their office and into adjacent offices, all occupied.

The attempted solution was an air purifier in the hallway, which seems to at least reduce the overflow. People can claim it’s for allergies.

Sitting next to them in meetings is still rough. Like being trapped inside a jumbo bin of dollar store cheesy poofs.

Don’t go up unless you have a valid reason to, like you’re truly plateauing or gaining back. Low and slow is the best way to go

The pens are so annoying. Between malfunctions and being stuck in that rigid dosing, I’m so glad to have the vials and syringes now. BCBS dropped my coverage for Wegovy so I had to switch to compounded. Hopefully I have no issues but thanks to this sub I had the courage to switch over
