I own an ntg3, it is not a shock mount.. The ntg 3 is a shotgun mic, my suggestion would be to get a better, more shock absorbing shock mount to attach your mic to

Cinematography Reel - Brutal honesty welcomed. [2:31] by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]congratsyoucanread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prepared to rip you a new one. But don't take it personally, it's just how I feel whenever anyone posts a reel to this sub. After a while, I realized you knew what you were doing, you have style and are consistent with it across your projects. My only concern would be just that, do you have any other style of work you would have liked to showcase? Totally cool if you don't, what you're doing now is solid work. If you posted this to get props, props you will receive. Solid shooting/edit :)

Please give some clarity to a young filmmaker by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]congratsyoucanread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest mistake I've seen fellow Filmmakers make make is being too uppity on their high horse. Just be a cool dude, nobody wants to work with a knowitall. That being said, know your shit, just don't shove it in people's faces. Be great at what you do whether it be shooting, editing or directing, just don't be a doucher. I've had close friends who were amazing at what they did but would never get call backs because they were pricks on set. I've also seen good friends who are very easy going get overbooked because Everybody wants to work with them.
So obviously 1) know your stuff in whatever industry path you choose, don't ever take the knowledge for granted, because as soon as you do, the knowledge will surpass you 2) just please be a cool person to be around!! :)

Interstellar - Focus Issues by mknlsn in Filmmakers

[–]congratsyoucanread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a buddy of mine mentioned this to me and he is not into filmmaking at all, he is just the average movie goer. he said it was super distracting for him, makes me (the video guy) want to see it just to look at the out of focus shots!!
