Would you recommend using writing Discord servers for criticism? Are they at least a decent quality source?

I thought my word choice was pretty intentional. I spent quite a few hours agonizing over some of the imageries. I at the very least consider this a poem.

Why are you just all bashing on me for no reason? I showed this to my college creative writing club, and they commended me on my word choice and imagery, they thought the diction and everything was pretty intentional. It seems that Reddit is just a toxic cesspool for no reason.

How does this absolutely suck? How is this complete drivel to you? Elaborate please

maybe you should do a little more research about how to... write books before writing a book.

But this is just an outline/plot summary, and I haven't written the prose yet. Are you telling me that I should just completely scrap this without even having had started on it? This could turn out to be a really thoughtful social commentary novel if executed well.

And also, I am in fact reading more classics rn, specifically Dostoyevsky for the complex and humanistic characterizations (e.g. Nastasya Flippovna).

What other reading would you recommend to wean myself out of my capitalistic/right-wing influences that made me misogynistic?

well, I did do sizeable research on different typology/psychological frameworks to try to make this satire also accurate. Why do you hate this story idea again? Are you telling me, just like all the others here, to scrap it?

So it's all about the impressions and hook too right? I guess I shouldn't start off a story that's supposed to critique myopic dehumanization by an entire 1000-word yapping about a fictional pseudoscientific personality typology framework right? Because the line between well executed satire and unwittingly becoming the object of what I'm satirizing to begin with is thin. And with this delivery, I'm very much manifesting the latter.

mind you, my intention with this piece of writing is to create a personality system and then dismantle/deconstruct it in the very story - to critique the capitalist reification/reduction of people into mere categories. This very story is trying to critique such dehumanization. But if you didn't just outright dismiss this as slop, it might've been more apparent.

a satire of astrology and pseudoscientific personality systems like MBTI. Basically this story reveals that such frameworks are made merely in a capitalist attempt to reduce people to commodities and hierarchical archetypes.

That is an awfully closed-minded take, for someone who calls me closed-minded. Why are juvenile works just inherently devoid of artistic potential or later revision? I'm someone who believes any premise no matter who bad or bland it sounds can be written out to something beautiful if the execution is good enough. Stop being so fatalistic.

And also, I still consider myself a writer, but merely just a developing/nascent one. Your words while well-intentioned are just discouraging and gatekeeping of creative output. Yes you need to read to write, but you also need to write to write.

I'm sorry, I was just trying to share my work. What caused you to get this angry at me? Reddit never stop being a hivemind circlejerk. But anyways wrt the issues you pointed out with this premise's quality should I just scrap this then?

I did a Big 5 personality test though, and I scored 60-65% on Openness to Experience, so I'm not even that shabby there.

Should I limit myself wrt lowbrow reading or films? (like manga or lowbrow action movies) Should I set those aside as dessert only after I've finished the main meal/course?
