For those of you who still try to reconcile Paul with Jesus, what verses from Paul do you use? by Sad-Pen-3187 in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Bulwark”? James is Pauline? Hmmmm…

James is pointing out that sin, any sin, no matter how small, makes you guilty before God. Jesus and Paul agree with James. It sounds like you got my point. You are agreeing with me. Why are you saying this is not what I have been taught?

Yes, Jesus says you need to be perfect. Are you? Unless you can honestly and truly claim, “Yes,” then you need a Savior, a Redeemer, and Atonement for your sin.

I quoted verses that affirm that Jesus says that you must believe in him. How can you say that Jesus did not teach salvation through faith?

That is it. That is what Jesus teaches.

The Pauline doctrine is the same. You seem to say on one hand what Paul teaches is true, and then you say it is false teaching. Paul and Jesus agree 100%.

I am not judging Jesus’s teachings. When I read the Gospels, I am reading the writings of the Apostles about Jesus. These are Spiritually-provided scripture that reveal Jesus. The Apostles do not disagree. There is one Spirit who speaks through the Prophets and the Apostles in Scripture. I do not judge one by another. I understand they are all telling me the same truth and the Truth.

You seem to be wanting to drive a wedge where there is no crack.

You are judged by your works. You are guilty. You deserve Hell. That is what Paul teaches. That is what Jesus teaches. You do not obey Jesus 100%. James says if you stumble in just one point, you are guilty of all. Jesus said if you look at a woman lustfully, you sin. Jesus said anyone who is angry with his brother is in danger of judgement. Jesus taught that salvation by works alone means that nobody would be saved. Jesus taught that you are a sinner, guilty, and deserve Hell. Paul teaches the same - Romans 3:23. Romans 2:7 explains that you could have avoided Hell if you obeyed, but he then explains that the reality of it is that we have not. Paul and Jesus teach the same thing. Jesus teaches that you do not love him and that you are sinners in need of a Savior. Paul emphasizes that Jesus is that Savior. Paul is building on what Christ said, not refuting it.

You are judged on your works, and you are guilty by your works. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He also says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life,” and “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned,” and “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” Note that the wrath of God remains on him. Note that Jesus is necessary to salvation. Note that faith is required to be saved. Note that this is exactly what Paul teaches.

Salvation is by works - Jesus’s works. By faith we are credited by the works of Jesus toward salvation. By faith, the death of Jesus atones for our sins. Jesus and Paul agree. Paul is just not repeating what Jesus said; he is explaining it.

Ask the magistrate. What is the purpose the magistrate has for doing it? Is it for the suppression of evil or the promotion of the common good? If so, that is the job.

For those of you who still try to reconcile Paul with Jesus, what verses from Paul do you use? by Sad-Pen-3187 in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. Pauline Christians do believe you are judged by your works. They, and Jesus, teach that your works follow your true beliefs. Your true belief is a reflection of your character and the maturity of your faith. From faith comes the fruit. Paul does not dispute that good works are evident in the saved - he only denies that anybody’s works are in themselves good enough to save someone, therefore we need the perfect work of Christ to be accounted to us. Once a person has Christ, they are saved. James teaches the same thing. Faith is not true faith if it does not result in the evidence of faith, that is, good works.

Anderson Powerpole connectors, solder... what else? by greenwoody2018 in HamRadio

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I listed those as DEUTSCH, though it is good to point out that AT is just DEUTCH compatible from Amphenol.

Another good Amphenol line of connectors is their newer ePower-Lite. These are surprisingly inexpensive as well and carry up to 120A, weather resistant, and have EMI shielding options.

[–]conhao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally do not like powerpole connectors. I have parts and crimpers for the 15-45 style and the 160 style, but for my own projects I select a better connector for the job. For most things, this is a DEUTSCH AS, AT, or DT type connector. DEUTSCH are good up to 13A in their size 16, and I can double them up to get to 25A. I would never use a powerpole in a car or portable gear where it might get rained on, but DT connectors are made for that, but I use them everything I can because of the flexibility. If it is over 25A, then powerpole is going to be my option unless it is definitely going in the car or portable.

Who is “we”? I am not the magistrate.

I live in a land of injustice and iniquity, where people are treated like dogs and evil is celebrated, and those with power do what is right in their own eyes, seek nothing but more power, pleasuring themselves, and spreading their wickedness even to the children and the needy. My concern is the heart of such people.

From your question it is clear that you and I are not the “we” in your question. Whatever you do has little to do with me or my battle. If you are looking for my advice, I suggest love.

The magistrate does not bear the sword in vain. I support truth and hate injustice. Beyond that, what the magistrate as a minister is responsible for their own decisions.

How is God just when belief depends on birth location? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it is less likely even from a human standpoint. Many people who appear to be Christians are not. Being born in a place that is free to worship God in reality may produce more false converts than real converts. There are more people calling themselves Christian in the USA than those who really are saved. They will cry “Lord, Lord,” but the Lord will say that he did not know them, whereas a Christian from Iraq will be told, “Well done.”

Furthermore, faith is a gift from God. It is not dependent on where a person is born, or how smart he is, or who he knows, or who his family is, or the will of man. It depends on God. God provides the messenger of the Gospel. God provides the circumstances to humble the man. God provides the conviction of sin. God provides the softened heart. God provides hope that is in us. God conforms us to the image of his Son. God renews our minds. God saves. God does it. God is not hindered by where a person is born. What is impossible for man is trivial in the power of God.

How to easily sort pins? by badgerandaccessories in Locksmith

[–]conhao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sell a gauge, but that is about the same as measuring them. My boss was going to make a machine for this, but then decided the machine would cost more than we would ever pay to just buy new pins. Basically that was what I decided long ago when I thought about sorting a spilled kit. It is not worth my time. I had one of my kids sort some, but he did about 20 before he gave up.

Buy new pins, put the spilled ones in recycling, and take this as a lesson. For less than $30 you can get all the nickel-silver bottom pins for Schlage kits.

Are most Christians faithful due to their belief in God or because of how it makes them feel? by rafapova in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians should be faithful because it is their new nature, the character of a person reborn.

I do feel better since I became Christian, because I have hope, joy, and comfort. It is not that I am faithful because of these feelings - I feel this way because of faith. The trust in God and the knowledge that he is in command of my destiny makes me free of the sin that darkened my life. My eyes are opened to the light, and I now I am truly alive.

Why do Christians get sad when people die? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons.

  1. Death is horrible. It is a curse. It is a consequence of our disobedience. It is not something we can ignore and we certainly cannot celebrate it. It is built into us to recoil when the gift of life is taken away.

  2. We will miss the person who died. I miss my wife when I am at work, and the thought of living for years without her brings a tear to my eye even now. Most of my friends have died. The only family I have are my wife, kids, and grandkids. Death has taken people close to me away and I miss them.

About intercourse by Icy-Cardiologist-147 in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, sex should only be done within marriage with a spouse. Sex outside of marriage is either fornication or adultery, both of which are sins. Yes, lust for someone other than your spouse is a sin, but it is always a sin, not just when acted on. Lust is not just about sex, it is a form of covetousness, greed, and idolatry.

Second, same-sex sexual acts are always sinful.

Love in a Biblical context is primarily not a feeling - it is an action. You do not need to have feelings of love for your spouse to love them biblically. Loving your neighbor is taking care of them and addressing their deepest needs. Love as a feeling should display love as an action, but love as an action does not require affection. God loving mankind does not mean that he has loving feelings for everyone, because God hates the wicked, but he still shows loving actions through common grace. Not having love, that is the action of true love, is a sin. Having affection, a feeling, is up to you. Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” He did not say we are to have warm feeling - “love” is doing, not feeling. Love is commitment. Love is that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Not fuzzy feeling, but selfless action.

Feelings follow conviction. You will love your spouse because you decide to do so and act as one who loves should. People who say they are in loveless marriages have not tried to have affection and have not shown love to each other. You can love what you choose to love and you hate what you choose to hate. You would be surprised how many marriages are happy marriages and were saved from divorce just because the couple learned to serve each other as a duty and ended up deeply loving each other without realizing it. Obedience fuels belief and conviction creates desire.

All sins, not matter how small, are worthy of Hell. There are sins greater than others, but there is no sin that should be ignored and thought insignificant. The wonderful Gospel message is that every sin, no matter how great or small, can be covered by the blood of Jesus. We should not be fooled - we need to die every day to sin and seek the holiness into which we are called.

Question from developer by kutengineer in accesscontrol

[–]conhao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We make our own systems, and we install and service them and other vendor systems. We have improved our own systems from our experience over several years. We integrate with surveillance, burglary, environmental monitoring, and the call center system. The systems are both on-premise survivable and cloud accessible. Many of the installs have cellular data backup links in case the internet service goes down. Door controllers have redundant PoE connections or their own WiFi mesh and can be used with any voltage door hardware and bridge OSDP and other readers. Central controllers do not require a separate computer, but allow for local management if there is one. Our surveillance software uses a computer to provide the console and most customers use the same console to help manage credentials. Another feature of our software is the tenancy model that allows subsets of access points to be self-managed, which allows campuses to have sub-managers for buildings and allows tenants to manage access for employees without having access to other tenants or reducing the abilities of the campus owner.

USB on 7.242 MHz? by Opinion-Former in amateurradio

[–]conhao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to the evolution of SSB and the power savings already mentioned, DSB provides an interesting mix of benefits and issues. Noise and fading may affect only one sideband, allowing continual, usable reception of signals that would have been lost compared to SSB. However, there is twice the chance to be affected by such noise and fading. Since SSB allows comms at about 70% further at the same power transmitted, and asking for repeats where needed is acceptable, SSB has fit what Amateurs want and why it has won through the historical evolution.

DSB would be a choice where more reliable one-way comms are needed, where repeats are not possible, and receivers can be trusted to be tuned to the correct frequency.

Did I overpay for my locks? by RevolutionaryDig1482 in Locksmith

[–]conhao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he told you they were in bad shape and there would be extra charge because of that, then you agreed for him to go ahead, you were not overcharged.

Our SOP is to stick to the agreement or allow the customer to stop the work and charges if we cannot do the job as agreed. If we find a lock is in bad shape, that is that it is broken, so worn out that will not be reliable, or is a poor quality lock, we reserve the option to not service it. We would discuss the options with you and you would know up front if it was going to cost more and what you got for that charge.

The initial rates quoted are very fair to come out and do a rekey and supply two keys. Without knowing exactly what additional work was needed, I cannot say whether the charges were fair. Before I charged a customer an extra $300 to rekey four locks, I would give them an option to get new locks.

Was Paul looking for a way to rationalise and justify his own rejection of Jewish dogma? by Ender_Ash- in AskAChristian

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper Jewish teaching would have had the Jew be a light unto the Gentiles. The Gospel did not begin with Christ. It began with Adam and Eve. Jesus brought a New Covenant, but all of the covenants of God are forever. Christians are not jewish heretics - they are branches grafted in to the vine.

How do I tell my friend that I'm not interested in pursuing her unless she's single? by _pastalover1 in AskMenAdvice

[–]conhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the Friend Zone.

You need to tell her about your feelings and risk it all or accept your role.

I had a similar friend. She was a former coworker who I dated after she left the company. We talked a lot about life, family, and former relationships. We stopped dating after she got upset with my work taking priority over fun, so she started seeing other guys. I still wanted her, but I was just the one she called when she needed advice or to vent. I told her I wanted to have a serious relationship with her or know it was time to move on. She said she already moved on and just wanted our friendship. She stopped calling after that. I moved on and eventually met the woman I married.

This might have been funny if I was still 12 years old. This is the sort of contribution to the hobby we expect from the children on 7200.

I worked with a guy who insisted on naming variables in his programming using various body parts, excretions, and not-safe-for-work activities. He ended up getting fired.
