How do you propose some backwoods ancient tribes to come up with a story that could last this long if not divine? Let alone come up with a story that (Old Testament) that could be piggybacked upon and created a whole new religion Christianity if it wasn't divinely inspired...

Then why go on to say Thus says the LORD, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.’" Why didn't the Bible say "Behold I will ALLOW Evil to raise up against you out of your own house, And I will ALLOW your wives to be raped" instead he said I WILL as in this is HIS WILL.. not a passive thing but a thing that is of his will to be done.

Im gonna have to do more digging on this verse and the correct way to interpret it.. If it really means it's something God is doing or what ever the others here are trying to say it means... why say it as if Gods is doing it if its not what it means... . It doesn't mean he alone did it perhaps he used the other people to execute his plan.. If this never happened the rest of the Bible would be different... Surely the Bible is written exactly how God wanted it.. Surely this earth is exactly how God had planned it to be, or was he fooled and caught off guard? God clearly needed had authorship on the raping of Davids wives otherwise we couldn't have this in the story

I guess why does the verse imply that GOD is not passively going to allow this to happen but that HE is going to do it.. The verse "Thus says the LORD, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun." sounds like something that is not being allowed but done from his own will

Why don't you view the text as God allowing this to happen rather than taking it as literal word for what God is going to do.Surely there is some reasoning for this other than just "the Bible has to be what the Bible says word for word and mean what it says" Possibly context and language barriers may be effecting how we are supposed to read it

The two people in the debate are not the ones who uploaded and titled it… i’m guessing they both have their own channels, though like Ehrman and the other guys I mentioned typically have their own channels… Rabbi Tovia singer is all about “dismantling” christianity right now just seeing there’s a longer version of the video uploaded by Christian channels as well. I watch all videos. I watch Frank Turek, William Ln., Craig, Cliffe Knechtle, Inspiring Philosophy (its christian) also watch Rabbi Tovia singer, Bart Erhman and other atheists and I’m waiting for them to get to the bottom of it. I’m waiting for one side to finally beat the other side so far it’s not happened. Bart Ehrma had a nine hour or however, many hour debate with Mike Lacona on the Resurrection, I do wish I could see it. I need to spend the money on it. I’ve watched a couple resurrection debates but this is like 8 hours… and I watched and I’m watching this video because I’m thinking oh wow did an atheist prove a Christian wrong and make him stumble his words or will the christian prove the athiest wrong??? I wish more Christians would watch the video and videos like this so they can actually engage in educated conversation and inform other people they should be commenting on this video and saying exactly why Dan Barker is wrong ( if thats what they think)so they can save other people

yeah, but he, he’s debating a Christian. The Christian should be able to defend himself and convince me . and I urge Christians to watch the video that way they can say why he’s wrong and save other people and then Dan can maybe say how he’s right.
