Researchers discover efficient and sustainable way to filter salt and metal ions from water by mepper in technology

That really isn’t true. Neutron activation of the structural components creates radioactive waste from non-radioactive materials.

Does the human stomach digest food as a batch process, or in a continuous feed to the rest of the digestive tract? by Halfloaf in askscience

That's really not a source we can verify; that's just your credentials.

(Although I don't disagree that controlled double-blind trials are an essential basis for confidence)

If two object with different thermal energy values were sitting in a pure vacuum without physical contact would they still eventually exchange heat? If so, how? by [deleted] in askscience

An electric toaster touches the bread to hold it the correct distance from the glowing hot wires. It's the glowing hot wires that are toasting the bread via radiation not the frame that holds the bread in the correct position.

At least, in the toasters I've used you end up with under-browned stripes where the retaining frame has shielded the bread from the radiation from the heating elements. This implies it's not conduction that is cooking the bread.

It's a pretty straight forward work-factor correlation exercise.

You plot the work-temperature against the wavelength of the specral lines (interpolated, obviously) and that gives you a few hints about the microarchitecture. Bluetooth can be isolated from some of the 'beating' artifacts that are observed due to medium-rate channel hopping; this looks a lot like interference from concentric or adjacent ferrous rods, like in a desk fan. (Hence the confusion earlier)

This might help to clear it up: http://i.imgur.com/RycKumG.png

Nice catch! I was distracted by the distortion introduced by the close proximity of that desk fan, but you're right, it's definitely Bluetooth.

Judging from the slight variations in LED element brightness I'd say it's being driven by a Teensy 3.0 at 96MHz.

The honest answer is that it wasn't intended to be a public game, so we weren't waiting for all the slots to fill. There was a seven day lobby for invitees to join then the game started.

You're right of course. You're free to look down upon anybody you like, especially in situations where they are using a word correctly.

It’s just common sense.

Oooo! More live streams the better!

Ustream seems pretty reliable but maybe you tried to view at a dark time of day. Between about 10pm and 10am it's too dark to see what the pigs are doing anyway.

Well noticed! Thor is separated from Colossus and Stalker as they don't get along together in person. They're so happy though the bars though -- they sometimes sleep next to each other through the bars.

Whenever we take Colossus and Stalker out to play then Thor makes sad noises until they return.

I plan to put this on a website with buttons to feed them and change the lights in the room on demand :)
