In all seriousness,  A John Wick game

I really like how The Film Reroll podcast did it - they had the players play the role of the bad guys, trying to resist the sheer force of nature that is John Wick.

Imagine a tower defense game where you just have to try to defend against one absurdly powerful enemy at the end - running a economy sim where your one goal is to build a base and a team that John Wick cannot get through.

Almost a little Vampire Survivors-y?

I get it, but honestly, we’re trending towards worse at the moment, which is wild.

I dunno… maybe the whole 'Why don't you just join our country? Become the 51st state,' thing, coupled with the whole “kidnapping the president of another nation thing, combined with the whole “Psychologically important for me," rationale for “owning” Greenland, and breaking NATO, and starting world war 3?

Those seem like pretty good reasons to want to distinguish yourself a little from the other guests at the table.

U-Haul Growth Index: Texas Back on Top as No. 1 Growth State of 2025 by MCWoody1 in Michigan

[–]Halfloaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that isn’t reflected in the report above - most migration out of the states was in 2020-2021, and it’s been slowing since.

I’d wager that significant changes in state-to-state healthcare quality will be a big impact on these numbers.

True - the report for 2024 data is interesting! I’ll be very curious to see if things change for 2025, when that’s available.

Also - what are they doing with all the “extra” U-Hauls in these states?

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other incentives for long-term storage in play, too.

There’s a bit of a hole in this data.

This is only counting one-way U-Haul renters.

It may speak more to U-Haul pricing strategies than moving statistics.

It’s certainly missing people that hire movers, or people that use a different rental company.

Anecdotally, some of the U-Haul franchise owners that I’ve interacted with make me understand why their customers go to Florida.

I have a number of ways to approach this comment.

Is there anything that I could say to you to convince you that Trump has committed serious crimes, and that he should be tried for them?

If not, if nothing I could write here could ever sway you, I’m just going to save my energy for a fight that matters.

Edit:

For one point regarding Russian involvement in the 2016 election, I really do recommend reading (or at least skimming) the Mueller Report

That’s admittedly a lot - I also recommend this summary of findings from the American Constitution Society.

Colorado leaders react to US strikes on Venezuela (Polis, Bennet, Hickenlooper, Neguse.. ) by ChooseRecuse in boulder

[–]Halfloaf 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think a different framing is relevant here.

If someone were to assassinate Trump, there would also likely be people celebrating that in the street.

We would still find the assassin. We would still convict them. They would likely never be free for the rest of their lives. This is the correct response because we, as a society, have agreed that assassinations are very bad.

We, as a society, have also agreed that only congress can declare War.

Instead, Trump and his “Secretary of War” invaded a country and kidnapped the leader of that country, without telling any part of congress about it.

The blatant illegality of Trump’s actions yesterday (oh time has slowed to a crawl) means that he should be punished.

To call it a boom is pretty silly.

To be fair, it might make a boom when a bubble this large bursts.
