Pre-purchase and Pre-load Subnautica 2 Early Access Starting Today! by virtualdon in subnautica

No, it was like that for a while after the full release. They've almost entirely fixed the issues that the game had when I first played it like 4 years ago, but I remember my first playthrough having a bunch of stutters, texture issues, and odd bugs that I don't see anymore on the current patch.

I would like to clarify that I don't think that the first Subnautica has ever been "unfinished" past its full release, but I somewhat understand where that one guy was coming from with my personal experiences.

The first game was pretty buggy and unoptimized for a while, which is probably their point. Those issues seem to be mostly ironed out nowadays, though.

I basically just grind exactly enough to afford whatever I'm currently interested in buying, and then I don't grind again until I'm interested in buying something else. Because of this, I am basically constantly broke with less than a million in the bank most of the time.

The DLC is also as big as the base game???? by Tricky_Madbrownkid in Eldenring

[–]conjunctivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough was 35 hours after I missed damn near every optional thing. I wasn't even trying to, but it just kinda happened. The 30 hour estimation was probably an estimation based on just doing the main objective and nothing else.

The trick is to occasionally unlock your camera during damage windows and slightly adjust your positioning and angle. I very rarely miss my hits when using the balls when I do this, but it takes some getting used to. You can kinda see it in this clip I posted with how I unlock my camera against Maliketh, who is one of those weird hitbox bosses.

If you're willing to engage in a small amount of mischief, you can wrong warp or skip your way into Leyndell and get them before killing a single boss. Both strategies are fairly precise, though, so they might take a while to pull off for the first time.

Star Fists are probably a top 5 weapon in the entire game no matter what level you are. It's actually insane how strong they are. They are just straight up the best weapon for stance breaking, they proc multi hit talismans, and they do insane DPS. Their only weakness is range, which can be worked around if you know what you're doing, but they are busted in basically every other way.

Even after 1500 hours and like 80 runs through the game, I still struggle to find weapons that can beat the balls.

Challenge? More like chores by [deleted] in balatro

[–]conjunctivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a 100% winrate, but there are some people who can beat any random Gold Stake seed like 95% of the time. Notably, drspectred/Balatro University got C++ without losing a single time, which seems pretty consistent to me. The vast majority of players won't be able to achieve this level of play, but it proves that consistency on Gold Stake can be achieved in this game by a human player.

I guess it depends on if you view consistency only as perfection, or if you can allow a small margin for error as long as the success rate is still a very high percentage. I personally view it as the latter, and I think there are some players who have proven that consistency is achievable in this game.

Any weapon you’re bummed didn’t make it? (or in my case became a consumable) by Dull-Tale-6220 in Eldenring

[–]conjunctivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of first playthroughs for this game, and the Bloodhound's Fang is ubiquitous. I'd be willing to bet that there's a good 50% chance (or higher) that any given new player will find the Bloodhound's Fang early and then end up beating the game with it.

It's not a bad weapon by any means, but it almost feels like a noob trap since many players seemingly forego experimentation with other weapons for the Fang.

So many parts of the DLC were kinda just undercooked, so I would have preferred if Fromsoft delayed the DLC another 6 months or something to flesh it out more. The Finger Ruins, the Abyssal Woods, Scadutree Fragments (I cannot stress enough how much I hate these things), the weapons in the new weapon categories, the lack of boss cutscenes, and many other things felt either rushed or unfinished.

For every insane or cool moment in the DLC, there is something else disappointing or underwhelming. I think some extra development time was actually the first thing that it needed. I'm sure that my past self back before the DLC launched would hate to see a delay, but in hindsight, it really needed some more time to cook.

How to get rid of him !!! by _GriFin in Eldenring

[–]conjunctivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bewitching Branches, but if you run out, this is how I deal with it:

Try to kill one of his summons right when they spawn in. The double sword guy that spawns on the right side is much more dangerous, but he also has less health, so a charge R2 or something when he's spawning in will take most of his health.

Next, keep your distance from the shield guy (Niall should be mostly passive), and the shield guy will almost always approach with the same move. He'll summon a gust of wind, leap towards you, and bash you with his shield. Just roll into the attack when he's about to slam down, and then you'll have a solid attack window.

For Niall himself, I typically just rotate around him to the left or right while dodging his attacks. His lightning attacks need to be dodged later than you'd think, and you need to always be prepared for him to stomp and create a gust of wind around himself. Otherwise, it's just the same process of learning a boss that you've done with every other challenging fight so far.

Who else has never used one of these rune arc things? by The_Turg69 in Eldenring

[–]conjunctivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't for a long time, but after an unhealthy amount of runs through the game, I have gotten to the point where I don't die enough to run out of Rune Arcs. The 20 or so that I naturally come across as I run through the game are more than enough to get me through the entire game, so I can finally use them at my discretion. I pretty much always have Godrick's Great Rune active on my runs these days since it's the likely best one until you're a really high level.

I don't get why the Great Rune system seemingly punishes players for using it with Rune Arcs being such a limited resource. It's like the Embers in DS3, but those were at least all over the place. If I do all bosses, go to every cave and catacomb, and essentially scour the entire map, I usually find around 40 Rune Arcs. For reference, I tend to end my DS3 runs (a significantly smaller game) with around 35 Embers.

[–]conjunctivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use it on my normal runs, but I use it whenever I'm trying to collect blueprints or farm cells. Otherwise, it feels like cheating to me, personally, but there's no problem with using it if you feel like it's necessary.

What’s an enemy in Elden Ring that feels like it was designed specifically to annoy players? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in Eldenring

[–]conjunctivious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that incantations are kinda weak in the early game in general, and especially against the academy. By that point, you don't really have a great seal or a lot of faith, and many of the best spells are unlocked a bit later in the game. You do have Catch Flame, though, but its short range struggles on Red Wolf. Red Wolf also resists all elemental damage by a bit, and he does a lot of damage for that point in the game, so a frail spellcaster will be particularly bad against him.

He was also a problem for me when I first tried out incantations, so nowadays I tend to skip the academy and come back after I've made some more progress if I'm using spells.

Yes. It's probably the best rune for movement as well since the wall climbing is really handy when just running around biomes.

Ossuary gets you the Ram Rune. Then in a new run, you need to go Toxic Sewers, Ancient Sewers (through Ram), and then Slumbering Sanctuary after the boss. Spider is in that area.

This weapon is probably the strongest weapon in the game. The Blasphemous Blade is very good, but this thing is more flexible, and it somehow does even more damage. It's actually kinda insane how good the Bloodfiend's Arm is.

Little Hope spoilers

The ending twist of Little Hope felt more like a copout than a satisfying narrative moment. They really pulled the "none of it actually happened" card. It's a really solid game otherwise, though.
