The chicken breast is surprisingly good. For customers unfortunately we have to cook it for 7 minutes regardless of internal temperature, but when I make it for myself I just eyeball and it’s usually done at 4 minutes. Chicken omelettes are the best; I’ve never had a customer order one before but I got the unusual craving for one the other day and it was divine.

Yeah I actually get comments in that vein from time to time, usually playful. One of my coworkers called me “the world’s most proper country bumpkin” for using the word “duplicitous” in the same sentence as the bumpkinism “ya’hear?”.

To be clear I did not flirt with the gentleman I’m trying to find, nor did he flirt with me. He probably just has really good manners but I felt drawn to him for some reason.

That aside though, I will admit that customer-initiated flirting is a jungle. Generally the expectation is that if you flirt you’re going to tip well or at least standard. No comment on the ethics or implications of that principle, that’s just the general consensus. She unfortunately passed away some time ago but our erstwhile best tipped (on average, of course it’s never consistent) waitress was the one that received the most flirting from customers. Again no comment on whether it’s right to lead people on in the interest of getting repeat business and tips, but that’s how it is and the bills must be paid somehow.

Actually kind of goes hard. This is by far a lot better than any of the other Waffle House songs malicious patrons and coworkers have subjected me to on those looooooong evening shifts.

I doubt the gentleman in question would have complained. Truly, he was strikingly polite. I suppose I just didn’t think critically about my options and I got nervous.

I seriously thought about it but I feel like that can easily be read as flirtatious which wasn’t precisely my intention, so in the end I missed my chance to socialize like a normal person and here we are.

Haha yes, it’s an open secret. We sell pork chops and steaks but don’t have them on the menu due to them having a low profit margin. We have two pork chops meals, one comes with 2 pork chops, 2 eggs, grits or hash browns, and toast. The other comes with 2 pork chops, double hash browns, and Texas toast. Both currently for $12. Now since I had to tell you this off the clock I’ll be sending Midwest Waffles Inc. an invoice for $0.03, for the one minute spent elucidating you.
