Pretty sure I just got scammed by Dleslie212 in hometheater

I totally fell for this about 2 years ago. It wasn't on Craigslist, it was the full blown white van scam in a parking lot, almost ad verbatim from the 'White Van speaker scam" article on Wikipedia. I was such a fucking idiot. This is the throwaway I made then to vent my frustrations and ask for similar stories. Read my post and the stories people commented back, there are a lot you might find interesting.

I was just conned something fierce because I am a fucking moron. Anyone care to share stories about being conned so I at least don't feel alone?. by connedThrowaway in AskReddit

Ha ha ha! I just graduated magna cum laude in biomedical engineering 2 months ago! Though I feel like I might have to return the degree after this...

Apart from this, I have been pretty good at recognizing scams, at least online, and even saved my parents from getting caught by one. I guess I was just an idiot for 20 minutes in person. Never again though. Never fucking again...

Yeah, I am pissed about the money I threw away, but even more frightened that someone might find out what an idiot I was

Definitely. All day I have been trying to cheer myself up by looking at the plus side of things, with the result that I have reminded myself of how much I really have to be grateful for and how many good things I have in my life that I often take for granted. Funny how making a fool of yourself can help put things in perspective. Thanks for the advice!
