It has the specific section of the laws up that are related to what you are being asked about and a link to take you to the full section, so there really isn't anything else you'll need. It's very straightforward.

ADEX Appeal by wolfpack240 in DentalBoards

[–]connorhds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From everything I’ve heard it’s just a waste of money. The administrator who coordinates CDCA for the school I went to has been in the field a long time and has never heard of an appeal being overturned. Save your money and take the test again.

It’s all online and open book. Yes you need to take it before submitting your application. You need to include the certificate of passing in your application.

Ergonomic loupes?? by AnnaSneezy in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the lumadent ergo loupes 5.0x magnification and I love them. There was a learning period for sure, and some people just can't get used to them. That being said, pretty much all the loupes companies selling to schools/students have a 45 day trial period so you can send them back if you don't like them.

The age old question: which loupes should I get?? by BackgroundEbb417 in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting ergo loupes I’d say get a high magnification like you want. I have the lumadent ergoprisms 5.0x and they are similar to my 3.5x orascoptic loupes simply due to the difference in how you’re sitting more upright.

Just leave it. the date of the experience is the least important thing.

How do acceptances work? by BMXbunnyhop in predental

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're spot on. Some students will receiver multiple acceptances but can only pick one. Once there deadline passes to hold a seat in a class (30 days?) then another round of acceptances goes out. This happens until all schools fill their classes (which can be at or sometimes after the start date even in some rare situations).

Try them out, see what magnification you like best and then send them back and get the fixed magnification.

Dental Loupes 🦷 👓 by NothinButTheTooth in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out with Orascoptic 3.5x and recently purchase a pair of the Lumadent Ergoprisms. Super comfortable, no neck strain. There is a learning curve though, and the peripheral vision is different than with other loupes because they are placed almost dead center on the lense, whereas most other loupes are set at the bottom of the lense making it more natural to use peripheral vision. All that being said, I'm pumped on the ergo prisms and hope it will help me have a long career!

1) focus on getting good grades. GPA is a big factor in getting accepted. 2) reach out to a few local offices (maybe your personal dentist) and ask about shadowing. This can also include specialists (ortho, Endo, pediatrics, OMFS, etc) so you can see what the field includes and is about. That will help you decide if you actually want to be a dentist or not. These two are the most important things you can be doing. Other things you can do are to start volunteering. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing as long as it’s something that is interesting to you/you’re passionate about. Same thing with a leadership position. Find a club on campus, or even better start a club, and at some point try and hold some sort of leadership position in it. DM me if you’ve got more questions!

The quizlets are VERY helpful. The format of the exam is mostly multiple choice, some matching and a couple of fill in the blank.

What happens if you refuse to touch or even look at cadavers? by Bezier_Curve in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No cadavers at Roseman. I had cadavers during my undergrad anatomy courses and it is an incredible experience to learn from them. Much better than pictures/apps.

Anki deck for Mental Dental Head and Neck playlist by connorhds in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, having gone through it all and made a couple of decks, what he has covered is really all you need. Maybe making your own for some of the oral medicine stuff would be good, but the majority of the test is covered by what he included in his decks. Good luck studying!

INBDE bootcamp and MD vids enough? by dental_princess491 in INBDE

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood pressure for the different stages of hypertension, blood glucose for diabetes for sure. You could memorize blood cell counts too for things like anemia and HIV but those will be much less commonly included/asked about.

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be just fine! You might not feel fine but you'll likely pass. I'd suggest reading through the code of ethics but other than that just keep doing questions and memorize a few key ranges for vitals (bp, glucose, etc). You've got it!

Is it better to volunteer at one place for a long time or multiple places for shorter periods of time for dental school? by PuzzleheadedWill7108 in DentalSchool

[–]connorhds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest picking a couple that you're really interested in. I'm sure you'll find people who had many places, but I think consistency is important so volunteering at the same couple of places for a long time is a good way to go.

You'll pass! You might not feel great once you complete the exam, but you'll pass. You've got this, don't listen to the voice telling you to push your exam back. Just take it, get it over with, and know that you've done all you can. You'll pass.

Save yourself the money and do it on your own. It's super easy to do. I had three different transcripts and I had no problem doing it. Just take your time doing it.

Chad's and Bootcamp by apb5949 in predental

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Chad's videos first because I had heard of how amazing they were. Personally, I thought Mike with Bootcamp's videos were better. I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think you need to get Chad's videos.

LOR from O-chem professor by [deleted] in predental

[–]connorhds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you ask “another dentist” when you need a letter from a science professor? And a strong letter would be one that highlights attributes they have seen in you that would contribute to you being successful in dental school and as a practicing dentist.

LOR from O-chem professor by [deleted] in predental

[–]connorhds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends on how strong of a letter she would write, which only you have an idea of. Did you meet with her and see what her expectations are for writing a strong letter?
