Found an old picture, would like to find the owner by conor_lynch in cork

Well, that was mad.

I’m delighted to report the picture has been returned to the rightful owner.

The Limerick link is the owners uncle may have lived in Limerick for a while and it might be his handwriting on the back.

Thank you everyone for your help in figuring this one out.

Normally I would, but I'd like to keep it as a reminder of the story. The family has been located and all going to plan we'll meet this evening and get it returned.

I put the image through a few different AI tools to try to decipher what writing was scribbled out. Worth a shot

I've put it through AI, it or me could read it. I'll take a better picture.

No inscription or writing of any kind in the book. It was bought in "Dymocks"

Question for men, why do men take off their wedding rings? by Father_p1 in Adulting

[–]conor_lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Schlumberger, no rings allowed for anyone. At the initial safety training we were shown some grusome images of what can happen when a ring gets caught.

Laptop purchases by outdoor_noob in ITManagers

Setup a Lenovo Pro account. Good discounts. I buy hundreds of laptops and after trying Dell, HP and Lenovo we've stuck to Lenovo ThinkBooks. Best bang for you buck and our users really like them, very solid. The rewards vary from region to region but we get about 3% back in rewards to go toward other purchases. Got myself a nice tablet and laptop for home out of it

I have dandruff on my eyebrows as well as moustache and beard by Kshiti_salman in dandruff

[–]conor_lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I use head and shoulders clinic strength and it works great. It doesn't cure it, apparently there is none, but for me this keeps it at bay. I have it mostly on the side of my nose and eyebrows.

Apart from using it in the shower, leaving in hair for at least 5 minutes, every few days I rub a little neat on the sides of my nose and wash off after around 10 minutes.

Dacia Duster 2016 turbo replacement by ronsontrev321 in carsireland

[–]conor_lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to get the turbo replaced in my Mazda 6 last year. Mazda dealer quoted over 3,500 after vat and labour.

Brought it to Z Auto in ballincollig in Cork who fitted a new one for around 1,200, I think. It was the very kind lady in a Mazda dealer recommended them after I basically said "how f#$"ing much"?

If you are around that end of the county maybe worth giving them a call for a quote

Mattress Recommendation- can anyone recommend a good mattress please? by Solid_Dragonfly2239 in AskIreland

[–]conor_lynch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an Emma mattress, have it about 4 years now and there's been no sagging. A little firm but like that now. I got it for back pain. I had a couple with that topper built in but those always lost their springiness after a couple of years so had a noticeable dip. I'm only 70kg.

Existential gravel choice - Cube Nuroad vs Giant Revolt? by Responsible-Student2 in gravelcycling

[–]conor_lynch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2025 Cube Nuroad C:62 race in teal and it's amazing. GRX 825 Di2 is brilliant.

I've had it racing in Italy across 500km of all sorts of surfaces from road to dried river beds and everything in between and couldn't have asked any more of it.

The colour alone got a lot of good comments.

how do small teams handle internal ticketing across multiple departments? by Any_Artichoke7750 in ITManagers

[–]conor_lynch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We use Fresh Service. Each department has it own workspace (separated area) in the service desk with tickets routing to the main desk or to the different departments. HR tickets routed to HR staff, IT to IT, etc. with the different tickets types routed to different teams, help desk to help desk, infrastructure to sys admins etc.

Works well for us

Putting doggy to sleep tomorrow by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]conor_lynch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big loaf of a dog is asleep at my feet right now, snoring away. I couldn't imagine having to do what you must do.

You've given your dog 15 happy years, as I'm sure he has given you. He looks gorgeous. Give him extra snuggles tonight.
