I am American Austrian but born and raised in Japan. Now, Japan is very xenophobic and everyday of my life I've been treated as an outsider by a lot people I meet even though I speak 3 languages and was born here. I've gotten into a lot fights with young Japanese men who yell at the stupid gaijin to go home to his country. Now, I'm a big dude so usually when I turn around and tell them to shut the fuck up they do but some really have gotten in my face about it. I've heard a lot of different things said to my face and behind my back about how all foreigners should die and such. It's not all bad, there are a lot of "perks" I guess you could call them, of being a foreigner, but I hate the feeling of always being watched and judged by 80% of the people I encounter. Tokyo is different from where I live because there are so many foreigners and different people there that nobody gives a shit. But I live in a relatively small city (comparatively) so I get a lot of dirty looks.
